Playing time breakdown: Clemson defense rotation sees shakeup after injuries

by - Staff Writer -

The Clemson-Syracuse game didn't exactly go how most thought it would -- the No. 1-ranked Tigers a 47.5-point favorite by kickoff.

The normal flurry of substitutions was stunted in a 47-21 win, which featured a one-score game late in the third quarter. There were some other factors on defense as well.

Reflecting some midseason injury issues, the did-not-play and unavailable lists were littered with depth-chart defenders, including defensive tackle Jordan Williams, linebacker James Skalski and cornerbacks Derion Kendrick and Mario Goodrich.

Defensive end Xavier Thomas continued his comeback with a season-high 25 snaps on Saturday, tallying three tackles with one sack.

Also in the comeback category is receiver Joseph Ngata, who played his most snaps of the year as well (31), with two catches for 15 yards
