Swinney, Elliott update Lawrence's injury status |
Clemson freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered an injury in the second quarter in Clemson's comeback win against Syracuse.
During postgame interviews, Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott confirmed that Lawrence had a head injury and is now in the concussion protocol. However, there was some good news that Lawrence was feeling much better during the second half according to Elliott. Swinney said during his postgame press conference that Lawrence wanted to come back and play in the second half but the doctors didn't clear him. "He's really doing great," he said. "He actually wanted to come back in and play. He got banged up and had concussion-like symptoms and you just don't mess with that...He tried to come back in but you trust your doctors." Lawrence was 10-for-15 for 93 passing yards before he left with the injury.
