Clemson 2019 linebacker Bryton Constantin of Baton Rouge (LA) University Lab suffered a knee injury playing basketball last week, and there are concerns it’s a torn ACL.
Constantin suffered the injury during University Lab’s 76-49 victory over Baker last Friday night. “At a basketball game last week, I came down from an alley and I felt a pop in my knee,” Constantin told TigerNet. “I went to the ER that night to make sure it wasn't like a knee cap or anything like that. They figured out it was most likely my ACL. I went for an MRI two days ago but I had too much blood in my knee to do an MRI, so they drained all the blood out and they were like, the only way you'd have this much blood in your knee is if you did tear your ACL. I go back for an MRI this weekend or Monday, so I'll know for sure what it is coming up soon.” Constantin was scheduled to enroll early at Clemson but said his school wouldn’t let him graduate early, so he played basketball for the school. He said that no matter the injury, he’s already looking forward to making his way to Clemson in June. “It will get better. The worst-case scenario is I'll redshirt my freshman year but that's the worst-case scenario,” he said. “I know they need linebackers so if I have to have surgery I'll get on my rehab and hopefully be ready by August. I should be ok.” He is a unanimous 4-star linebacker who joins Travis Etienne as Louisiana natives on the Clemson’s roster for 2019. He is a Top 100 player according to Rivals.com, who listed him as No. 94 overall player, fifth-best inside linebacker and the seventh-best player from Louisiana. He had 104 tackles, including 23 tackles for loss and six sacks in 2017, and also had two caused fumbles and a pick-six.
