Rising redshirt junior defensive tackle Sterling Johnson announced via social media Tuesday that he will transfer.

"Dear Clemson University, after a long and thoughtful process and prayers, I have decided to transfer and have a remaining 2 years of eligibility," Johnson wrote. "I would like first to thank God for presenting me with the opportunity, coach Swinney along with the rest of the coaches, the fans, and the family I have made along the way. A Tiger forever and much love."

Johnson played 129 snaps over 11 games in two seasons as a Tiger, totaling 14 tackles, three TFL, two sacks and a QB pressure.

The Clayton, N.C. product was rated as high as the No. 109 player in the nation by ESPN out of high school.

Johnson is a second Clemson defensive lineman to announce a transfer in the last couple weeks, joining rising redshirt senior defensive tackle Jabril Robinson.
