Reports: Clemson rookie Nate Wiggins gets news on injury |
Nate Wiggins made quite the debut in NFL preseason action versus the Philadephia Eagles on Friday, but he didn't leave the game on his own terms.
Wiggins exited with an apparent shoulder injury, but according to multiple reports, Wiggins' injury was not as bad as it looked, and he is expected back for Baltimore's Sept. 5 opener at Kansas City. "An MRI revealed that #Ravens rookie CB Nate Wiggins’ shoulder injury is not as serious as initially feared — and he should be ready to play Week 1," NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Sunday. The latest first-round pick from the Clemson secondary was targeted early and often by the Eagles, and he made them pay with three pass breakups in the first three passes his way. He posted a tackle for loss as well. Wiggins is joined on the Baltimore defense by former teammate Trenton Simpson, who flourished in a new bigger role on Friday with 11 tackles (five solo). The Ravens and Chiefs kick off the season at 8:20 p.m. on that Thursday (NBC/Peacock). Former Clemson receivers Justyn Ross and Cornell Powell are two hopefuls to make the active roster on the KC side and possibly matchup with Wiggins. The Ravens are confident that rookie CB Nate Wiggins, who hurt his shoulder Friday night, avoided a really significant injury. Wiggins could miss some practice time but Ravens still optimistic for Week 1.
