Barry Humphries had the perfect senior year. First, Humphries had the dream season going undefeated winning the state title. Then, he was selected to the Shrine Bowl. Last Saturday, Humphries made his first career start at center.

Humphries struggled with some snaps during the game, but was very sound in his blocking. With only one week of practice to prepare, the trouble with snaps is not a concern. Brad Scott will be able to correct the problems with snaps in early August. It was very pleasing to see Humphries get off the ball well and contain North Carolina’s interior line.

“We played very hard at the Shrine Bowl. Winning that game felt. It completed the perfect senior season for me. Now I am just ready to hit the weight room and continue to get myself ready to make an impact at Clemson.”

After watching Humphries for a week, we are even more excited about what he will bring to the Clemson program. Humphries showed great leadership skills and carries himself with great poise. No matter the situation, Humphries never showed signs of frustration.

“I always try to remain calm no matter the situation. I know my teammates look to me for leadership. It is a role that I am always prepared to handle.”

Humphries was the first of the 23 commitments to fall. He has never wavered from his commitment and much like his fellow Clemson commitments he spent last week try to persuade other players to come to Clemson.

“My roommate Thomas Austin and I were working a lot of those guys last week, telling them to come to Clemson. There was a lot of great players there. Hopefully, we had an impact. I really enjoyed spending the week with Thomas, he will be my roommate at Clemson.”
