these come to mind:
- Vic Deakins (John Travolta) in Broken Arrow
- Jackal (Bruce Willis) in The Jackal

90s blockbusters force the good guy to win. But the character development really favored both villains to me. Good guy wins due to some easy/cheap plot device.

I’m also a Thanos fan (in a way, he’s selfless) but I can’t say that I really felt like I was pulling for him.

In case some of you history buffs didn't know, Lee was a member of the British SAS. Around 1942 or 43 he was dropped behind German lines in, I think it was Norway, and he remained there till the end of the war. Lee was doing an interview during his movie days, and the journalist asked if he would tell about some of his WW II adventures. Lee asked the reporter if he could keep a secret, of course he answered. Lees reply was, so can I. Chris Lee was pretty cool, and deserved better roles, than he got.
