It started when the English played back to us the Blues songs of our past.
Then they embellished it.
Then they took over music all over the world.

They also trotted out some top level talent.

Yes, they did trot out some talent - which caused me and some other folks who had been making a living plaing R&B music to question whether we wanted to continue with music as a livelihood. I decided "No" for reasons mostly different than that.

Much of what the English cadre of musicians brought to the party was drugs..... folks like Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton and the like set the standard for not just musicians, but youngsters all over the world. IMO, they were good musicians, but lousy role models - and a very large part of the reason I left music - or it left me.

We have enough of that here already, we don't need more from other countries. It's like the criminal illegals (i.e. the one that killed the girl at UGA last year). You don't throw more fuel on a fire to try to put it out.

With that said, I do like a lot of the music from artists from other countries.
