Craig and Wesh to appear before Student Judicial Board next week |
CLEMSON – Clemson two-sport athlete Joe CraigJoe Craig
Wide Receiver #81 5-10, 160 Gaffney, SC View Full Profile and track athlete Marlena Wesh will appear before the university – most likely the Student Judicial Board - next week to determine if they will be suspended from school. Wesh and Craig, who runs track and is a redshirt freshman wide receiver on the football team, were each suspended from Clemson’s track team for an undisclosed violation of team rules. At this time, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney will wait to see what punishment –if any – is handed down by the university before making a decision on how to handle the matter. However, a Clemson University Police Department incident report says that the incident involved “assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature” between the two parties. The report states that police were called to Clemson House just after midnight last week after a resident said he saw Craig repeatedly bang on Wesh’s door with a silver towel rod, leaving marks on the door. Police arrived on the scene and described Wesh as bleeding from her head and “screaming and hysterical.” Police found Craig in a Chevy Impala parked outside, and he was “bleeding profusely from his left triceps area.” Police took an eyebrow razor with a serrated blade from Wesh, who said the two had an argument earlier at a pool party and when Craig showed up at her door, she was fearful for her safety. She then opened the door and cut him with the blade. According to the report, Craig then “hit her in the forehead and continued hitting her when she was on the ground.” The two declined to press charges against each other.
