Clemson's NCAA Tournament regional field announced |
CLEMSON - Clemson knows its NCAA Tournament path, which starts in Doug Kingsmore Stadium and could be there for a couple weeks.
The Tigers (41-14) were awarded the No. 6 national seed and will host Vanderbilt (38-21), Coastal Carolina (34-23) and High Point (34-25). Clemson hosted Vanderbilt twice recently in 2017 and 2018, where the Commodores advanced to the Super Regionals each time. The Tigers had a home-and-home scheduling with Coastal Carolina both canceled by rain this season. It is the final season for longtime Chanticleers coach Gary Gilmore. The game time is set for 7 pm Friday on ACCN. The Vandy-Coastal game will be at noon (ESPN2). As a Top-8 National Seed, Clemson will host the Super Regional round if it advances out of the weekend. Oklahoma State has the regional paired with the Tigers, which also has Florida as a 3-seed. Clemson looks to advance for the first time since 2010, which was also the Tigers’ last College World Series bid. Clemson is also seeking to make a first regional final since 2018 for one or two chances, in the double-elimination format, for a spot in the Super Regionals. Clemson is making its 46th NCAA Tournament appearance all-time and hosting for an 18th time since 1980. The Tigers entered Monday’s action at No. 7 in the RPI and KPI rankings, and No. 16 in strength of schedule. Clemson is coming off of a sweep of Boston College to close the regular season and then a 1-1 record in the ACC Baseball Championship with two 8-7 results, one a loss to 11-seed Miami in the Pool B championship and the other a win over 7-seed Louisville.
The bracket is set.
