Clemson is ranked 4th in the nation behind only Michigan, Alabama, and Louisville in the
latest ESPN 2016 Football Power Index.
ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for a season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is, and projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. The top ten schools were Michigan, Alabama, Louisville, Clemson, Ohio State, Washington, Texas A&M, Florida State, LSU, and Ole Miss according to the FPI. Clemson has a projected win-loss record of 12.1 wins and 0.9 losses, 36.5% chance to win out, 74.5% chance to win the ACC, and a remaining strength of schedule of 43 overall. ACC schools rankings according in ESPN's FPI were Louisville (#3), Clemson (#4), Florida State (#8), Miami (#14), North Carolina (#26), Virginia Tech (#28), Pittsburgh (#33), North Carolina State (#46), Georgia Tech (#50), Wake Forest (#56), Duke (#69), Virginia (#75), Boston College (#77), and Syracuse (#80).
