Wore them in the Sugar because color TV of the era couldn't handle orange or purple well, and for B&W TV, the shade of orange wasn't contrasty enough. Wore them in one other game, but lost it also, I believe. We don't want to wear those again.

We wore the blue jerseys 7 games in 1964 and went 2-5 wearing them. Not a good year.

Those 1940 Cotton Bowl throwbacks we wore versus UGA in 1995 looked blue, to me. At least that is the closest I have seen in my lifetime. Besides the trim in the 80's.

It was the helmet and pants in 1995 UGA game that looked blue, to me. The original 1940 (Banks McFadden days) uniforms also had that color jersey.

We wore blue jerseys until the early 1960's. Then it was orange uniforms with white and navy blue trim. Then someone in the 90's thought purple was a good idea.
Our colors are orange, white, and regalia, a type of navy blue. Not effing barney the dinosaur purple.

The colors are orange and purple. They have been ever since there were "official" colors as far as I know. I used to draw orange and purple tiger paws as a child in the early 70s; the first Tiger Rags were orange with purple Tiger Paws; the stadium cups in the early 70s were white with orange lettering with purple trim. Sure, the arhletic deptartment used blue a few times in my lifetime - basketball unis in the mid 80s and stadium cups in the late 70s or early 80s, but the official colors have always been orange and purple, at least in my lifetime.

They may have been in the log but we were defiantly confused over the whole blue/purple thing at times. I can remember our "trim" color from the 80's being closer to a navy/midnight blue.
As for the poster who mentioned the return to purple: It was during Hatfield's reign that I first saw true purple, as an adolescent back then. Then Tommy used those purple pants and jerseys and a white top with a real blueish purple pants (see Woody vs Duke for this example).
