Different era now. It was a cool concept back in the day but college level schools shouldn't be retiring numbers.
Heck, even pro ball shouldn't retire numbers. If folks wanna not wear specific numbers out of respect cool

IMO - Any player that wants to wear a retired number should meet with the former player or if no longer with us their family. Understand and study who they were as a player and how they impacted the program. I believe it would install character and a will to live up the number. Building on the legacy of that number. Also IMO any linebacker that wears the number 10 better bring the heat and channel their inner junk yard dog. GO TIGERS

I don't know but that's a great picture. Fuller had a rocky start to his career at Clemson but grew into an outstanding quarterback and leader. He ran the option to perfection. And of course the throw to Jerry Butler to beat the Gamecocks is legend.

Sam I remember when Fuller, as a freshman, called a play to be snapper on 1st sound. He then saw something He didn't like and called a time out. Of course the center snapped the ball on 1st sound and it went straight up in he air. Don't remember if it was a turn over

Retiring jerseys was a nice concept when you have one great player every 25 years. When you are recruiting like Clemson has the past 15 years and you have multiple great players every year, it becomes an issue. The practice should be eliminated unless we have a Heisman caliber player who leads us to another NATY, walks on water and can fart The Star Spangled Banner in 3-part harmony.

Due to so many great players now, maybe the only numbers that should ever be retired again should be Heisman winners...The way they vote them based on ESPN hype, Clemson would never retire another number...
