Looking for advice on which generator to get for the upcoming season. Any tips/advice would be appreciated. Would love not to spend $1000 for one, looking for more around $500.

you should treat yourself to a nice one so we can "borrow" it while you're at the game.

I have a Generac ix2000.....

....have had it four years without a single problem. Hondas are overpriced IMO. I bought the Generac with extended warranty for less than the Honda with only original warranty. Just as quiet as a Honda 2k machine.

Went to Northern Tool last August....

and was planning to buy the $1,000 Honda unit. While I was putting it on a cart, the guy working the floor asked if I had looked at the Northern branded unit, a Powerhorse. Same specs as the Honda, if not better. Guy even took one outside and cranked it up for me to hear. For $599, I gave it a try and decided I would save $400 bucks. Used it every game last year to run tv and crock pots. Did great. Warranty is 2 years versus the 3 years for a Honda, but you can buy another year with the protection plan for $69 from Northern.

Just get a good Deep Cell Battery and a power inverter. I can run my tv, satellite box, radio, and crock pot off of my battery all day 7am-9pm or so.

I bought a 1k watt generator from Sams for $149. It was an off brand but figured if I only get 2 years out of it then I can just but another.

Plus all of your neighbors will appreciate it. We hook two Interstate Marine Batteries to inverter and they last all day into the night. Always hate it when we have to ask someone to move their generator back around to their tailgate.

Portable generators are allowed as long as they are rated at 70dB or lower as to not disturb other tailgaters.

Although only 800 watts, it has more than enough capacity to power the television and satellite receiver, it's very quiet, and it only cost about $300.
