I think a good boiled hot dog is the best, plus you can put the hot dog water on rice, which is really good too.

As the former manager of a hot dog restaurant I consider myself somewhat of an expert
If they have the natural casing boiled is the only way.
Boiled in beer is also good
If you are the guy that throws them on the grill and burns them to all hell, GTFO
bun quality is crucial as well a dog in a bun slit down the top is top notch
You can also use hoagie rolls and load them up with cheese and bacon and all sorts of crazy things and throw em in the oven for cheese melting and bun crisping.
Try baked beans with cheddar done as just described.
And one final rule: no ketchup ever belongs on a proper hot dog

LOL - I didn't even know people actually boil hotdogs, so I had to watch a Youtube video just to see if that is possible. I might try that and see how it goes. I have some in the fridge right now, so maybe we will do BOILED dogs tomorrow.
That said - it's sad that I had to watch a video to see how to actually do that.

All beef. Grilled judiciously to encourage a crisp exterior without charring. Course ground spicy mustard (I like Inglehoffer’s). Homemade sauerkraut cooked with apples and bacon.
This will be served at the marriage feast of the Lamb in heaven, or so I’ve heard.

I could go either way (that’s what Jake Bentley said), but I do prefer a denser bun/roll than the typical Merita white fluff. Pretzel buns are epic.
