You are probably correct. If we did get some regulations and penalties then I would feel a little better about the direction of the sport but I cannot see that happening either. Don’t even know who is actually in charge of the sport these days.

Most likely, it will not be in place in July. Even if it is, there are end around paths for the well healed private money to flow. Their legal teams will be light years ahead of these new enforcement clowns. It really won’t be that difficult to circumvent the proposed nil restrictions. As described in the article, it is a clown car enforcement mechanism with Deloitte and the school reps. I’d love to be a fly on the wall listening to them setting arbitrary market values for deals. You are worth what someone in the market will pay you. Full stop. Outside of congressional action, we are stuck with this @#&$ show.

Problem is there is what 10-15 teams driving the market value and they are the only ones that can afford it.
Haves and have nots will need a split at some point. Driving this train right off a cliff. I’m not watching OSU, Oregon and Michigan buy an All Star team every year and claim national championships. To each their own I guess.

I was particularly interested in how the third party (Delloite) agency was going to handle the "fair market value" part of the agreement without running into immediate psushback and legal challenges.
Example: Phil Knight wants to pay Quincy Quarterback $1,000,000 bucks for modeling Nike apparel. If Tom Brady can make megabucks doing advertising, why can't Quincy Quarterback?
It seems to me like the only way to control the chaos is for the universities to tie scholarships directly and enforceable to academics. But, I see no one in any university even discussing tightening academic requirements.
I still think the schools who want to "compete at the highest level" will break away from the NCAA as a governing body and will set up an organization that (regardless of what you call it) will be a professional league with players being employees, unionizing and negotiating salary and benefits - just like other professional leagues.

All of this is in flux, still to reach some equilibrium. Until it does, it's the wild west.
When it does, it will be different than before, but the wealthiest players will always find a way to advantage the system, just like they always have.
That's how it was up until 2016. That's how it will be when the dust settles on whatever this will be.
For that reason, Clemson will again have to be different. We are never going to outspend everyone. Dabo created a unique program and culture. It stood out from every other program and made us players on the biggest stage. I think he is the one who will steer us back to that point.

I agree with the comments on here from posters, why would the richest programs follow the rules now that its clear there will be either no....or hardly any punishment....
I think Dabos thought that everything will be "worked out" and more balanced after revenue sharing is just wishful thinking. the lid came off and it wont go back on until its all burnt down.

Dabo has been doing a lot of wishful thinking over the last few years.
*Wishing that D.J. Ooeyungalalay would be great.
*Wishing that his internal hires would turn out to be terrific coaches.
*Revenue sharing will solve the problem.
Don't get me wrong. Dabo is a HOF coach, but I do believe he has to tune in to today's football world a little bit more.

So long story short is the big money schools will just continue to use NIL on top of revenue sharing to lock down athletes. At some point they’ll be getting paid more than nfl players. 🤯🤯why can’t they put rules to this Wild West that is college football.
