That was 27 years ago… But yes, I did get on one knee. Called her dad to get his blessing as well.

Yes. We were behind Dry Falls one spring afternoon. Just so happened another couple who were professional photographers were there and ended up capturing the whole thing. They waiting in the parking lot for us to have our moments and then approached us telling us they had photographed the whole thing and got our emails and sent the digitals to us for free.
It was awesome.

I also sat down and talked to her parents in advance to get their blessing and consent.
My wife was an elementary school teacher. It was her birthday, and her school was also having an assembly for spirit week. I dressed-up in the school mascot costume (a Cardinal), something I coordinated in advance with her principal. When they called her up on stage to sing happy birthday to her, I got down on one knee, took off the mascot head and proposed in front of the entire school (about 500 students, faculty and staff).

48 years ago I picked her up to go to dinner in Columbia and pulled over just before we got on I-26. Opened the glove box, got the ring, and proposed. I already had her father's blessing.
I know, I'm so romantic.

Not how I planned but it worked well enough.

I got on one knee and asked her dad for his blessing before proposing. I was more nervous about that conversation than I was about proposing to my wife. I'm 38 now and we've been married 12 years.

I went to school one day to give the kids small individual surprise packages. I then gave my fiancé a small bag that included a plastic heart ring. She looked at the kids and jokingly said “ this doesn’t fit.” I dropped to one knee and said “see if this one will, will you marry me?” For the first time since I met her, she was speechless. One of her coworkers said “are you gonna answer him.” She finally said “I will.”

Took her down to the Beaufort waterfront at sunset before our last year of college.
Originally I wanted to do a walk up to have both our families comes together on Huntington Island but that didn't work out.
Asked her parents some months beforehand for their blessing and saved as much as I could for a ring. Didn't have any funds to hire a photographer but was lucky enough for a couple to take a few snapshots for us as I popped the question.
No Regrets!

Nope. A little over 55 years ago I came home from National Guard Summer Camp and had bought Her several goodies from the PX. Some very nice gifts actually. Was heading to Mount Pleasant to see Her. Decided to buy her a Diamond and ask Her to marry me. All of the items were in one bag. I pulled them out one a time. When I got to the Diamond I handed it to Her. She said aren't You going to ask me? I said oh Yeah, will You Marry me? She said yes but has never let me forget that. if We make it to October it will be 56 years! I guess I did pretty good!

We started discussing getting married on our first date. I had a lot of previous GF but none felt quite right.
Halfway through our first date, I started thinking "I think she's the one".
We were both in school so we waited 5 years to get married. When I had enough money saved, we went ring shopping together.
Now married 39 years, together almost 45, and it still great!
She was pretty patient while I finished grad school at Clemson while working full time and working a part time side job.
She's definitely the one!

68 years ago ,we sittig sitting in my car in her parents driveway after returning from a dinner date. I hugged kissed her and popped the question. She accepted and then I talked to her father. We were married in six months to the day, from our first date. Still in love and happyly retired. It was love at first sight for both of us! Four children, ten grand children ,and six great grandchildren.

I did, almost 10 years ago. I had written her a song years before just messing around with a toy guitar. I'm no musician. 4 years later had an artist my dad knew record it to play as a part of the proposal. Hilariously this backfired and her first thought was that I had stolen the song which distracted from the objective!! 🤣

We were sitting on a ledge so no.
Did not ask her dad, because not long before this, he took a swing at me.
The short story is that we had dated for a while, then I broke it off to be sure. (No that did not mean I took several other girls for a test drive.) If I couldn't live without her, I was going to make sure I never let her go again.
We got along perfectly and only had fights while we were broken up. We'd get together, break it off, she'd cry, he didn't like seeing her cry, yada yada yada.
We will be married for 30 years this May.

January 16, 1984 about 5:30PM. She had come in from work at the Shipyard and I came down from Cottageville to her Mobile home off Ashley Phosphate. I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. She said "Yes". We went out to eat and then spent the evening at her place till I had to go to work on Grave Shift at the Shipyard. We were married that year and stayed that way until she died from cancer last May. I still cry.

For anyone who cares, here is the story (TLDR warnin):: We had dated and broken up several times, so I thought it would be clever to pop the question at Old Faithful. We booked a trip to Jackson Hole. She was a novice skier, and I wasn’t. Remember that later. We were leaving a couple days after Christmas 1995. I woke up Christmas morning as sick as I have ever been, but I had to get up off the couch to drive three hours and get her dad’s blessing. Approval in hand, we left, not realizing that Clinton’s government shutdown had closed Yellowstone National Park. Snowmobile trip had to be rerouted, and big idea was shot. Then, a couple days later, I went off and skied with some powder hounds and left her with the bunnies (it was a ski club trip). When we got back to the room that night, she was so mad she was in tears. I had planned to propose on the snowmobile trip, but this was an emergency. Went to the front desk to “get some firewood”, came back to the room and got on one knee. She said yes. Next chapter for anyone still reading/interested in a reply.

We went snowmobiling the next day (but not to Old Faithful). On those guided trips, they make you ride single file. I was the last guy in line. After a short time, my machine broke down, and I watched the line disappear into the distance. My fiancé of just 12 hours didn’t even miss me until they stopped for lunch an hour later. Bright side was when the leader came back to work on my ski, he gave me his (ungoverned) ski, and told me to catch up with the group. Yeehaw!

Now happily engaged, and with my fiancé having gathered her revenge, we resumed our trip. We went out big on NYE, then I took New Year’s morning off to watch the Tangerine Bowl at The Mangy Moose. Another bad idea. Anybody remember that game? Ouch! And the hangover didn’t help.
The good news is we were married six months later, still are almost 28 years later, and I wouldn’t trade her for a basketball AND a baseball national championship for my Tigers.
Anyone still here, thanks for reading and following me down memory lane.

Original Western'er here...what difference does it make?
Drove to her parents to ask for their blessing first and got down on one knee. I was raised that that was the only way to do it.

I did. Got her parents blessing before taking her to Rockville, SC, where I had arranged for a good friend to set up a table and chairs by the intercoastal waterway with champagne and crab dip from Cappy's restaurant. Sadly the whole thing was a complete disaster as that day it rained constantly and was about 45 degrees(this was May 15th). Ended up at Cappy's at a table inside on one knee.

Yes and asked for her father’s permission the day before. I worked part-time at a small jewelry store my last year in college in exchange for her Diamond ring. A couple of days before graduation I proposed to her at night on the beach. She lived on the beach and we went for a walk, I had hidden a picnic basket with a blanket, champagne, hollow stem glasses, under a hobie cat deck. Good memories!
