Delay of game on the defense?

Nov 24, 2008, 12:59 PM

How is this possible? I think it was the OU/TT game I was watching a replay of and that was the penalty.

One of the D-lineman must have been using similar sounds

Nov 24, 2008, 1:01 PM

as the QB normally does trying to get the center to hike the ball before he was supposed to or another lineman to false start.

Also if the defensive player won't get off the ball carrier

when the play is over

I believe you may be thinking about the illegal subsitution

Nov 24, 2008, 1:04 PM

12 men on the field penalty. You're only allowed to substitute at certain times like the offense is limited as far as breaking huddle w/12 etc.

Nope, the ref said delay of game. I believe it was on a TT

Nov 24, 2008, 1:06 PM

extra point.

Nov 24, 2008, 1:07 PM

The worst call from that game

Nov 24, 2008, 1:04 PM

Was the moronic "hitting a defenseless receiver" call.

The receiver was ON THE BENCH for cryin' out loud!

Nov 24, 2008, 1:11 PM

That was a terrible call

Nov 24, 2008, 1:51 PM [ in reply to The worst call from that game ]

I'd like to know the interpretation of that. Did he think he lead with the helmet or something? If that wasn't the case, I don't understand how that's called a penalty. If you come across the middle you're gonna get hit. Is the defender supposed to let him catch the ball?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Seen it called for different things including..

Nov 24, 2008, 1:11 PM

Imitating a snap count to cause the OL to have a false start, not getting off the ball carrier quickly enough, hitting the ball prior to the snap, knocking/throwing the ball away intentionally after the play is over, and sometimes for a substitution issue

Sometimes it is called for not buckling your chinstrap or

other equipment issues.
