I'm only 18 and I just discovered them a few days ago. Why haven't I heard of them before? My god they are ####### amazing. John and tom fogerty have more talent in one stran of hair then all the artist out there today combined.

You probably haven't heard of them b/c they were only around from the late 60's to early 70's. Band had some real bad blood between them and never reunited. Tom died about 20 some years ago. John sings solo and the other 2 still tour as well but CCR itself was short lived. John actually refused to perform with Stu and Doug when CCR was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in '93.

to convince listeners they were byou country boys with some political energy. Sad the two brothers fell out with each other and fought over control of the band name and copy right laws.

The band "officially" broke-up in 1972.....
Jun 12, 2012, 8:12 AM
|
|
primarily because of on-going tension and disputes among the band members. The original Creedence lineup rarely reunited after their breakup. About the only time you hear the music anymore is on classic rock stations.
Since Tom Fogerty died from AIDS complications in 1990, a rerunion of the original four members is, of course, impossible.
While a reunion of the remaining three has been discussed, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford have repeatedly said that they are not interested in a CCR reunion.

poor selection of radio stations?

not sure how you have never heard of CCR. They're not my favorite band by far, but still they are 1000x better than anything you hear on the radio today.
If you like them, do yourself a favor and go get some Stevie Ray Vaughan, "old" ZZ Top (pre-"Legs"), or Grand Funk Railroad.
I honestly feel sorry for today's youth for what passes for music these days. And no, it's not the typical old person rant about "music is the devil".....today's stuff is WAY too mellow. Music has been "pansy-fied" (the G-rated term) into shallow, hollow mush.

I still have several of their albums. You know - those old 33RPM records. Yep - old. And you're right - it is still nice to listen to them. Glad you finally found them.
I don't know that I have a favorite though. All of their stuff is pretty good. I did like the long version of "Born on the Bayou".

You've probably heard of them but have also probably missed a lot of their music.
My girls grew up listening to The Eagles and know every word from every track on Hotel California.

I saw him a few years ago after he broke his self-imposed ban on performing CCR tunes.
Thank you Bob Dylan and George Harrison.

It was not self-imposed. In the early days, he was also their manager and signed all of his songs over to Saul Zantz who forbid him to sing his own songs after the group broke up. Zantz owned Fantasy Records. A real scum-bag.

out of the gate with an old R'n'B cover (SuzyQ)in the late '60's and didn't slow down for years.....If you're a rock'n'roller, check out "Sweet Hitchhiker"
When they finally disbanded, there was an enormous amount of enmity between John and Tom Fogerty and the other members of the band. As stated in another reply, for years, John wouldn't play any previous CCR hits.....Sadly, when it was discovered Tom had an incurable disease, John, despite pleas from their mother, refused to visit Tom in the hospital to make amends in his last days.

recorded, that being said, 'Someday Never Comes' is probably my favorite tune by them. Always gets me misty eyed and reminds me of my dad for some reason. I guess cuz he loved CCR even though Foggerty is a flaming liberal.
