Cooked bacon, then chicken thighs, then leeks, carrot, celery, garlic. Deglaze w white wine. Add a couple tablespoons of butter & flour, cook that in, then add in some home made chicken stock & some double cream. Cook that all down until it thickens. Top with homemade mashed potatoes, however you like them. I like mine with loads of butter & cream. On top, add grated sharp cheddar. I used English white. Bake until bubbly, then garnish with chives.
I’m enjoying this with a 2020 Neil Ellis Chardonnay from S Africa.
What are y’all making & drinking tonight?

Rhesus Macaque? I think they're now in season. I remember that monkey brain dish from Indiana Jones but that still leaves a little meat to use...

Tonight, we are having Elvino’s takeout. Whatever the wife orders. I think it’s pepperoni pizzas. But I’m hoping she will surprise me with a lasagna. Who knows? In the meantime, all the bourbon and cold beer I can fit in my belly. I only have a few minutes before the food gets here. Wish me luck!

Shrimp were swimming last night before they made the mistake of getting too close to the boat. Boil about a pound of them 2 minutes , then ice bath for 2 minutes. Dice them. Add half cup diced celery. Add couple of tablespoons lemon juice, Dijon, salt, pepper, and old bay to taste. Fold in just enough Duke's Mayo to hold everything together. Add dried dill at the end.
Arugula and shredded carrots. Nothing fancy but delicious.
And a smooth Pinot Noir from Patagonia.

First off I cooked some ground venison in a skillet w some spices and olive oil. Then I drained it and added some mf-in home style ragu sauce.
Took some Lowes foods Italian sausage and cooked if up good. Then combined w some bertolis Alfredo sauce.
Boiled thin spaghetti and penne pasta, threw some pre made garlic bread in the oven. Absolutely crushed it over here.

Frozen stick of bread, follow directions, then watch the kids smash everything you cooked… excluding the food you made. They will smash that bread though. But only if you follow the directions perfectly.
Disclaimer… my meat sauce is slayed every time that I make it. But I’m always moved by the number of people that compliment the premade frozen garlic bread. I’m like, do y’all even friggin dinner? Please don’t tell me that y’all don't understand the magic of garlic bread? Do they still make their own gravy on weekdays too? They always love it. But a little too much. You know what I mean Verne?
