The importance of 4-star lineman's recruitment, how Tigers made top programs list |
The offseason approaches.
Clemson has plenty of crucial items to check off its list this offseason, and beyond roster reconstruction for next fall, all eyes will be on the future beyond that. The 2027 class will come into focus very soon, and while early commitments have been made to establish a foundation for this cycle, more will be needed to turn this into a top class across the country. We've begun the process of reaching out to the top targets Clemson is focusing on, and four-star lineman Peyton Miller of Anna (TX) may carry more importance now, given recent events. Four-star OL target Reed Ramsier was considered one the Tigers could take to the finish line, having all the ingredients for a successful sales pitch. They had the sentimental aspect, with four-star target Chancellor Barclay already committed to Clemson, with Matt Luke making consistent visits to Orlando to check out the two prospects. Suddenly, our sources close to the situation told us that Ramsier was looking elsewhere, and that Clemson was no longer in the driver's seat, or even the passenger's seat, when it came to the pecking order for his services. Ramsier had a scheduled visit to Clemson for the Tigers' game against Duke, opting instead to visit Ohio State for the Buckeyes' rivalry game against Penn State. Soon, the First Academy four-star released his top five schools, and Clemson wasn't a part of that list. Now, the shift turns to other prospects, and one we spoke with on Monday morning. Miller was in town for the Tigers' matchup with Syracuse, and all the indications he gave were that Clemson made a massive impression with the four-star talent. Despite witnessing a loss, he came away impressed with the emotion and care following the aftermath of the Tigers' 1-3 start. It served as a confirmation of Dabo Swinney's culture, and getting to see that up close when things were difficult actually became a positive for the Texas native. Since then, Luke and Carson Cramer have continued to stay in contact with Miller, building on that momentum that has been steadily rising since Miller received an offer during Swinney's high school camp. While the top Texas lineman hasn't released a top list of schools yet and is still waiting to see how other programs unfold during the winter, he assured that Clemson already has a top spot secured. One of Luke's top 2027 targets also confirmed to Tigernet that Miller will return for Junior Day in March.
