Former All-Pro WR says Hunter Renfrow will 'shock people' |
NFL Network analyst Steve Smith knows a thing or two about succeeding in the NFL. Clemson product Hunter Renfrow is a prospect the All-Pro and 16-year NFL receiver had been following before and then during the NFL Combine last week.
"Here's one guy that I love watching and was really impressed with, (the) hometown guy, Hunter (Renfrow)," Smith said on Charlotte sports radio WFNZ. "He just was really efficient. He wasn't blazing fast but he was a very good route-runner like I've already saw on film. He quietly - kinda like Cole Beasley has done in his career - makes play after play after play. "That's what one of my guys who I really think is going to shock people." In his senior season, Renfrow captured honors as the most outstanding player who started as a walk-on (Burlsworth Trophy) and the player who best represented a dedication to faith, family, friends and football (Bobby Bowden Award). He finished his Clemson career with 2,133 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns over 55 games (47 starts). Renfrow holds Clemson records for starts for a receiver (47) and consecutive games with a reception (43). In addition to competing in WR drills, Renfrow ran a 4.59 40-yard dash and did seven reps on the bench press.
