The coaching staff at Clemson started recruiting Haydrian Lewis very early, the summer before his junior season. It was apparent the staff felt very confident in what Lewis could do then, and now they should be even more confident.

Lewis committed early to the Tigers once he knew that his offer still stood. Lewis was a very firm commitment to Clemson from the beginning, causing interest from other schools to die off and not offer.

"When I committed to Clemson, the Tennessee coaches called me and wanted to know if I had committed. I told them I had and Clemson is where I will be headed. When other coaches called me, I made sure they knew I was committed to Clemson."

On Saturday, Lewis went up against some of the nations top receivers. He was in man to man coverage for most of the day. Lewis was beaten a couple of times, but playing opposite Jamie Robinson, he proved that he could not be picked on by North Carolina.

"I had heard all week how great the North Carolina receivers were. They are very good, but I am not going to let anyone just dog me out on the football field. Everyone in this game were All Stars for a reason."

Lewis is a player that the Clemson staff was very high on, and after Saturday it appears that the staff has done a great job of evaluating talent once again. Lewis' style is a perfect fit at Clemson. He is a man and cover 2 corner.

"Clemson's system is a perfect fit for me. That is one of the reasons I am so excited about coming to Clemson. I know Coach Bowden and his assistants will put me in positions to make plays. I wanted to play for coaches that I know will help me excel."
