Four Tigers named major award semifinalists

No. 3 Clemson has a number of Tigers up for major awards after a 9-1 regular season and ahead of a rematch with No. 2 Notre Dame in the ACC Championship.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne were named semifinalists for the Maxwell Award Monday, which goes to the top player in college football.

Lawrence, with the O'Brien Award, and Etienne, for the Walker Award, were also named semifinalists for being the top player at their individual position. Lawrence is averaging a career-best 303.9 yards passing with 20 touchdowns to three interceptions this season. Etienne has totaled over 1,300 all-purpose yards with 14 touchdowns in 10 games.

BT Potter also Monday became the first Clemson semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award (top placekicker) since 2016 (Greg Huegel). Potter has connected on 16-of-21 field goal attempts with a long of 52 yards.

Amari Rodgers picked up the semifinalist nod for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the top receiver in college football. Rodgers is leading the Clemson receiver corps with 845 yards on 61 catches with six touchdowns. He is a first Clemson semifinalist for the Biletnikoff since Sammy Watkins in 2013.
