What to Watch Week 3

Sep 16, 2020, 10:17 AM

Kind of a better slate of games this week? Or at least more and more CFB is better right? UVA vs. #20 VT has been postponed as has #21 BYU vs. #22 Army.

Tulsa at #11 OK State
12PM, ESPN
Why should I care?
First chance to see OK State in action this season. Chance to watch arguably the best RB in CFB not named ETN in Chubba Hubbard who ran for over 2,000 yards and 21 TDs last season.

Syracuse at #25 Pitt
12PM, ACCN
Why should I care?
Pitt cracks the top 25 after a shutout of Austin Peay last week, 'Cuse is coming off of a rough start at UNC. Both future opponents for the Tigers, should be a good barometer to see how bad 'Cuse really is on offense as Pitt has probably the second best D in the ACC.

Houston at Baylor
12PM, Fox
Why should I care?
Honestly, this game is only noteworthy because of how it happened: Houston was supposed to be playing #16 Memphis this week. That game was postponed last week and Baylor and Houston got together and set this one up in literally a week. Considering most of the OOC games we watch are scheduled years in advance, it will interesting to see if the logistics in this one will affect the play on the field. Otherwise, a pretty ho-hum matchup, even by 2020 Virus Season standards.

BC at Duke
12PM, ESPN3
Why should I care?
Will be our first look at future opponent BC with new HC Jeff Hafley, who we last saw on the OSU sideline as DC back in Dec (and called a pretty darn good game IMO). Chase Brice will make his second start for the Blue Devils after a solid game against ND last week.

USF at #7 Notre Dame
2:30PM, NBC
Why should I care?
Jeff Scott's USF team is coming off a win vs our opponent this week--the Citadel. Who wouldn't love to see his team knock off the Catholics in South Bend?

Charlotte at #12 UNC
3:30PM, ESPN3
Why should I care?
Honestly, the only reason to watch this is to see how the Tarheels look after a solid outing vs 'Cuse last week. We won't see them in the regular season but may in the ACCCG.

#14 UCF at GT
3:30PM, ABC
Why should l care?
GT is coming off a pretty big upset (at least on paper) of FSU last week. Can they continue that momentum against a ranked UCF team?

The Citadel at #1 Clemson
4PM, ACCN
Why should I care?
This one isn't going to be close obviously but it's the first home game this year. If you're not one of the 19,000 people going, take note that it's on the ACCN and Comcast still does not carry it... Plan accordingly.

#17 Miami at #18 Louisville
7:30PM, ABC
Why should I care?
The only ranked vs ranked matchup of the weekend, which has attracted Gameday for a second straight ACC game. This is probably the best matchup of QBs so far this year--Miami's Houston transfer D'Eriq King played well with his legs last week in his debut with the team and Miami's debut with a new OC but struggled some in the passing game. Louisville QB Micale Cunningham played well last week throwing for 343, 3TDs, 1 INT. We lost Louisville as an opponent when they reshuffled the schedules this year but will see Miami in a few weeks.

WFU at NC St
8PM, ACCN
Why should I care?
This will be NC St's first game of the season--who doesn't want to watch Dave Doeren lose as a nightcap?

Great work. I love write ups like this.

My opinions:
* I think Pitt rolls Syracuse. The Orange might get a couple field goals.
* I think Duke pulls away in the 2nd half
* Yes, absolutely pulling for the Fighting Jeff Scott's. Maybe unlikely upset, but would love it.
* GT will be knocked back down from their proverbial high horse.
* Miami vs Louisville should be good. I'm late to the Louisville train, but I am starting to buy their hype. I think we can still beat them, but they have some frisbee catching dogs.

It won't be the B1G10 nor will they be around in week 4, 5, 6, or 7.
