My dad attended Clemson for a couple of years (1960-1962) but did not finish due to financial hardship. He ended up enlisting in the Army, never finished his degree, but was an awesome father to my brother (Clemson Class of 2001) and I (Citadel Class of 1998, Clemson MS 2002,PhD 2005).

Unfortunately, he passed away 31 years ago today due to lung cancer so I have never had a real chance to talk to him about his Clemson experiences. I do know that he was a math major.

His yearbook pictures are attached. I noticed in both the freshman and sophomore pictures that he's wearing a lapel pin. Was this a requirement of some sort during that time?
