ESPN predicts ACC bowl season |
The ACC football bowl slate starts Tuesday with the Quick Lane Bowl matchup of Duke (6-6) and Northern Illinois (8-4) at 5:15 (ESPN). ESPN ACC writers David Hale and Andrea Adelson forecast
a successful postseason for the conference with a few surprises.
Both pick Clemson in a one-score game, with Hale taking the Tigers edge the Crimson Tide, 23-21, and Adelson, 28-21 Clemson. "Clemson's defensive line will be the difference in this game, corralling Jalen Hurts and controlling the line of scrimmage," Hale writes. Adelson projects the ACC to go 9-1 going into the national title game. ESPN's Football Power Index currently gives Alabama a 58.1 percent chance of winning. Alabama is a 3-point favorite after opening as a 1.5-point favorite. The ACC is 50-50 on bowl favorites, with Florida State owning the biggest spread in its favor (16.5 v. Southern Miss) and Miami the biggest underdog (+6 in the Orange Bowl versus Wisconsin). ACC Bowl schedule 12/26: Quick Lane Bowl (Detroit) - Duke v.
