Would you change the batting lineup

for the Clemson regionals this weekend or keep it the same? Now that we already debated the pitching lineup, im now curious on how you guys would change the batting lineup. For instance Priest is the number 3 hitter but seems to strike out a lot. Would you move him down the lineup or keep him there. Listi seems to be doing bettor recently. Maybe move him up. Jarrell is a home run machine so I’m wondering if it would be good to move him up to the 3 or 4 spot. What do you guys think?

Listi needs to lead off, Cam third or fourth.***

Cam has been absolutely dialed in there’s no shot you throw off his rhythm by moving him in the order. I could see moving listi up and dropping priest. Wouldn’t be a very power-centric top of the lineup but they’d sure put pressure on the other pitcher

Definitely in favor of dropping Priest a couple spots.

I have 0 confidence in Priest right now...he's all or nothing and Ks way to much, probably would drop him to the 6 or 7 hole. Our top 4 right now in whatever order will probably be Cam, Listi, Purify and Maybe Jarrell. Then you have Paino, Gafney, Priest, Cuifo and whoever you start in RF....wonder if McCladdie gets one more shot in the lineup, Crighton has be okay. I do think we should leave Cam at leadoff tho

Is McCladdie's wrist healed? What was his injury?***

He's done for the year...it's Crighton or Wentworth

Tp Wentworth has played rf recently and he has been playing some really good ball. He gunned down someone going to third and he’s been a breath of fresh air in the batting box. I think Gafney was benched for Wentworth cause he wasn’t hitting well. Right now I would take Tp over him any day of the week.

Yeah I agree with Wentworth, he has a lot of potential to be a future star with this team....I'd turn him loose now and see if has a breakout campaign in the post season.

Just throwing this out there:
Listi (on base machine)
Ciufo (best bunter on the team)
Cam ( Mr. Clutch)
Jarrell ( bombs away)
Crighton ( stroking it pretty well lately)
Paino ( most strikeouts on the team but occasional power)
Purify ( hits better down in the line up)
Priest( 2nd clean up)
Wentworth ( showing improvement)

Ciufo has too much swing and miss in his game to hit in the 2 hole for me personally. Also moving Cam would be the dumbest thing EB could do. He absolutely turned it on when he started leading off you don’t do anything to get him off rhythm

I agree. The only 3 people I wouldn’t change in the batting order is Cam (Seems to find his groove as the lead off batter), Purify (Is now playing good as the 2 spot) and Ciufo (Who can add some spark at the bottom of the lineup and can get on base for Cam to do some damage.) The rest of the line up I wouldn’t mind being switched around.

I have almost posted something similar a half dozen times.

I most certainly wouldn't put my highest strikeout guys with the lowest batting averages at 3rd and 4th. ESPECIALLY as slow as Priest is. 80 strikeouts for Paino in 183 at bats is just awful.

Hasn't made sense to me all year. That being said, the Tigers are 44-16 so I'll leave it to coach.

Paino especially reminds me of Marquez Smith in the 3-hole in 2006. It feels like some sort of promise was made to the transfer guys. Smith was probably the 7th or 8th best hitter but Jack kept him at 3.

Yea im not sure why the coach hasn’t moved Paino and Priest down the line up yet? It seems kinda odd that you keep on letting these 2 hitters (that are in a slump) continue to be the 3 and 4 hitters. When you have Listi and Jarrell right behind them batting bettor. I think those two would be the bettor fit for the 3/4 spot than Paino and Priest.

If you want a more modern look, it might go something like this:
1) Cam Cannarella (Best available OBP after 2-hole)
2) Dom Listi (Best overall hitter)
3) Jacob Jarrell (Highest OPS after 1- & 2-hole)
4) Collin Priest (Highest Isolated Power available after 1-3)
5) Purify
6) Paino
7) Ciufo
8) Wentworth/Gaffney (5-8 spots are in order of decreasing OPS)
9) Crighton (Highest OBP after 1-4)

The main issue is after Dom and Cam, we don't have any guys who can hit for average & power, it's one or the other. Jarrell has done well lately, and Priest is obviously struggling (although can absolutely hit bombs when he connects), but 3-4 have to go to the best power guys, with the 3-hole being the better overall hitter. Purify has only increased his average week-over-week one time since the Davidson series when he went nuclear, so I think keeping him out of the spotlight in the order could help. Ciufo and either Wentworth or Gaffney are interchangeable, although Ciufo has a higher OPS and OBP than both of them, so him being the "3rd leadoff" might create some value. I think Crighton is a perfect 9-hole hitter. He doesn't hit for any power, but he gets on base and hits for average, which keeps the bottom of the order dangerous.

The main issue with personnel is choosing Wentworth or Gaffney. Wentworth has done well in the month of May, slashing 0.316/0.409/0.421, which is a good trend going into the weekend. It just depends on if Bakich wants Gaffney's experience (albeit none in postseason play). Maybe Wentworth could be a platoon option or late inning defensive sub, but clearly the lineup worked during the ACC tourney, so it might be worth going with it until it fails.

I wouldn’t bench Wentworth. Wentworth has been way better than Gaffney. I’d say let Wentworth play and if he starts playing bad then put Gaffney in. But right now Wentworth to me is wayyyyy bettor then Gaffney.

Could use 2 or 3 DH guys

Keep Cam in the leadoff spot, get Purify and Priest away from each other if you can't hit someone else in Priest's place.

Cannarella
Purify
Wentworth
Jarrell
Paino
Priest
Listi
Crighton
Ciufo

Yea I agree that Purify and Priest shouldn’t hit together. It’s interesting that you put Wentworth at #3, (I put Listi as my number 3 ) but I do admit that I trust Wentworth at the 3 spot more than Priest. I feel like he’s most likely to be able to have a more productive at bat than Preist would.

Wentworth has been seeing the ball well lately. I like Cam to get on base and Purify to get back to getting on base, so I figured TP could knock em in.
