That some stereotyping is harmless and quite funny. The type they do with characters like him is the other kind of stereotyping and has been for 30 years. John Boy is racist AF. He used to hold court at this hole in the wall bar in Pineville, and he’d tell jokes that would make Frank Howard blush.

JB&B live off of comedy well over a decade past tired, and a severely limited classic rock playlist that aims at the lowest common denominator of listener. They've been off my radar for a long, long time.

studio during a show a couple of times many years ago. I always ended up gravitating to Billy or the engineers to talk music and radio station technology after the shows I sat in on, Billy actually has far broader musical tastes than John Boy, who essentially IS that lowest common denominator when it comes to music. JB&B do have some sway over what gets played during their show, but it comes from a pre-approved playlist handed down by corporate. You can't waste millions in marketing studies when it comes to herding the great American sheep herd toward commercial product acquisition, you know.

If you’re in your car, just call me every 10 minutes and I’ll go “NOT TOOOO GOOOOD”.
Then just switch back to the Bachman-Turner Overdrive Pandora station and it’ll be like JB&B never went away.

hahahahah Love it.
well duh-huh
I haven't listent to JB&B in ages.
To me, Carl Childers and Billy Ray Collins are hysterical and the only funny thing on that show.... but man those two characters kill me. Loved me some Rob. D. Raiford as well.

are essentially a minstrel show (not to be confused with a menstrual show... stubborn_tiger). I have definitely laughed at them before, but it's pretty tone-def these days.
I guess Rev. Billy Ray Collins might be offensive to some Christians, but I think it's hilarious. It's the funniest thing on that show by 1000000%. I guess I'm able to poke fun at myself... probably due to my privilege.
Also, I'm 99% sure that Willie P. Richardson is a white man who plays a black man on his prank phone calls. (Fact Check Needed) He's funny as crap... but I guess that's taboo as well. I mention him because they used to play his calls on their show from time to time.
