Why will the Offense be so much better?

I wasn’t able to watch the Texas game live and I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch the replay yet. But it seems like most of the optimism about our offense is based on Cade and WRs performance in that one game. Otherwise, We were putrid against decent defenses last year. What am I missing?

Nothing like we have a ton of experience coming back... most importantly the OL had another year to develop under Luke. Defense lost that game at Texas. Puddin' is now gone.

I guess you missed a sample size of what our offense should be this coming season!!!

The amount of experience coming back and the guys being in the same system another year. Not counting the line being full of upper classmen with another year of Matt Luke developing them. Our offense was very good last year. Texas only gave up 140 yards per game through the air and we threw for over 300 not mistaken and 3-4 passing tds which was more than all other teams had scored threw the air on them at that point in season. Cade developing even more after a great year last year, the list goes on. Go Tigers!!

Yeah, those passing numbers against Texas were very impressive. Texas had probably the best pass D in the country going into that game.

Where was that passing attack against UGA, UL, SCar, and the 2nd half against SMU? Did the O just finally “gel” during bowl practices? Did the coaches finally realize we had no running game and finally turn Cade loose?

So much experience coming back is great. Let’s hope whatever it was that worked against UT will be the norm next year and not the anomaly!

I wouldn't say the offense was very good last year

They showed that upside at times, but they also completely disappeared for long stretches. The entire UGA game, the first 3 quarters against Louisville, the 1st half at VT, the 2nd half at Pitt, most of the SC game, the final 25 minutes against SMU...

There were just too many times where they totally no-showed and could barely even pick up a 1st down for me to say they were very good.

But we do have almost everything coming back and there's plenty of reasons to think we could get to that level this year. It really needs to start with more consistency from the running game. Hopefully Matt Luke has that under control.

We were also lacking a running threat for the 2nd half of the year with Mafah being hurt. That's what killed any steam. Defenses could pin back and do what they wanted most of the time. This offense should be insane this year. 4th year QB. Abundance of running back depth and talent (just need someone to take the mantle). Extremely talented and deep at wide receiver, obviously. Deep and talented at Tight End (someone will take the mantle there). And a extremely solid group of o-lineman that's proven they're so much better under Coach Luke.

We are setup to potentially have one of the craziest and most unstoppable offenses in the country come Summer and Fall Camp. Mainly just need a running back to really take the spot and be THE GUY.

Certainly a lot to like with the talent and experience. I hope the coaches will let this offense be aggressive from the start, attack the middle of the field, and use the pass to set up the run.

I think you'll see a lot more passing over the middle. If the Spring Game was an indication, Tristan Smith is going to be the "go-to" guy in crossing and slant routes. He is an incredible target in the middle. He gets to be a really "big" target in the open with his arms and legs and has the hands to be successful. He reminds me of Jordan Leggett running the middle and out routes. In combination with a TE, RB and a couple of WRs in the pattern, I really don't see any defense being able to stop him without giving up coverage somewhere else.

If our OL does their job, our offense is going to be incredible this season.... :)

Let's see....we went from 52nd in the country in total offense in 2023 to 18th in the country in 2024.

Also went from 76th in yards per game in 2023 to finish 12th in the country for yards per game last year.

A big reason for that was two freshman WRs named Moore and Wesco. They are both back and more experienced.

We also have a new Oline coach in his second year, where in his first year made an immediate impact.

Also, there are STUDs at TE.

If you don't think this year's offense will be one of the best in college football you been pecking the dirt too hard....

At least you attempted to answer the question before insinuating that someone who dares to ask an honest question must be a secret coot.

Lmao the only game the offense was really bad was Jawga and that's because neither Wesco nor Moore played until the end. Our defense was horrid....couldn't stop the run all year and they let Texas run all over us . Allen will shore that up with better gap integrity plus our portal additions. The offense will have another off season and we will actually have some healthy explosive running backs. It's pretty easy to see that the offense will be better.

You must be blocking out the Louisville and SCar games. Offense was pretty bad in those too. The D was cr*p stopping the run, but I also remember being very frustrated with the O in those games, too.

Correct. Not sure the OP watched any of our games. Even in the Georgia game several well respected analyst thought that Cade really did some good things and that most all of our mistakes were correctable.

We were a borderline top ten offense last season and are getting our QB, all WRs and 4/5 of our starting Oline back this season. There isn't another team that was ranked that highly that can say all of that. If we can figure out the RB position and our TE group continues to develop we should, at a minimum, be a top 10 offense this season and that's where you need to be to content for the playoffs.

If you have the time , I suggest just googling " 2025 Clemson football outlook " and jump in. The water is fine

Your missing that Cade has developed A LOT over the past few years and he is now a senior. Our WRs looked great last year as freshman and now they are coming back older and more experienced. O line didn't loose too much and Matt Luke is great. RBs have a lot of depth but they are young. Still think they will do good behind pour O line and with us having a passing Offense to help. AM I MISSING ANYTING???

You best review your stats. Our QB had a phenomenal year. If we had had a running back through
the last of the season we would have been much better. Because of injury we had a running back at 1/2 speed.

More experience at WR. They are stacked. Healthy talented RB's. A better OL. The O should also get more opportunities due to an improved defense.
