Why on earth would Dan Mullen not be a canidate at Florida?

He helped them win a Heisman and 2 National Championships. But I am reading that there was friction between him and Florida? What kind of friction? There must be something foul that went on in Gainesville.

I don't think Foley ever even offered him the job. Apparently begged Meyer to come back.

Mullen and Mullen's family did not have a good experience in Gainesville. He was the fall guy even though his offense was highly successful.

all of the sports radio stations here in central Florida keep saying that when he left he pi$$ed off a lot of people at UF and burned a lot of bridges. They have not gone into any details but they seem very confident that his hire will never happen.

stuff and that he and his family didn't have good experience there. Strange, but he was the OC for Tebow and when they won 2 championships? That would seem pretty impressive to most people.

Well Foley and Spurrier have bad blood also ....so there is your proof. It's like a Dbag vs Dbag cage match between those two. Love the circus of high profile CFB these days.

Rumors in the local Gainesville media and from their fans down there is that Foley has made it clear that he wants to hire a coach with proven offensive credentials, and one (this time) with Head Coaching experience in a major college program. Names I've heard the last couple of days from Gator fans is Hugh Freeze, Mike Gundy, Rich Rodriguez, and Art Briles are high on the list To interview. Basically they're wanting to hire the next "Urban Meyer" but with more class.

Exiled2 Is he not?
It probably is on several UF Blogs and obscure websites but even the national media outlets were saying last night that Foley had made it clear that Mullen would NOT be a candidate for the job there. I have not heard about all the "issues" that were mentioned by the guys above (bad blood and all), and that may be one of the reasons Foley made it clear yesterday that he was not going after Mullen. I have friends who are staunch Gator fans for years who told me yesterday that Foley is looking for a MAJOR upgrade with the Florida Offense and that he wants a coach with a proven offensive track record and some success as a major college head coach.
Blogs, fan sites and random Gator web sites are going to throw out their opinions and all the names like the ones shown on the link above are going to be listed. Patterson is a name every team with an opening or possible opening has thrown out, and I've even heard Gamecock fans saying They heard Chip Kelly or Pete Carroll's name coming up on the Florida Short List ..... The guys I spoke with last night were spot on years ago when they told me Urban Meyer was the top candidate to replace Zook, and that Muschamp was the guy who was going to replace Meyer (no one saw that one coming). Right now they are saying that Freeze and Gundy would be the two leading candidates but have heard Rich Rod and Briles names as well. ..... will be interesting to see how it goes over the next month or so

Seems like he's in a good situation at Miss State. So why

would he want to leave? He can win championships at that school. The only advantage I see for him at UF is being in the middle of the state of Florida recruiting hotbed.
And being in the $EC East instead of the West.
