Why has Arch Manning not taken the starter spot at QB for Texas?

He's a redshirt freshman. Many seem to think he's the better QB for some reason. Family name? Arch can run, but who is the better passer? Sarkisian thinks Ewers is the better player today.

Rumbling? Dissension? All this chatter probably doesn't help the psyche of the Texas team and their starter's confidence heading into our game.

Looking forward to getting some kill shots on both and them finding out that neither one is sufficient.

A Longhorn friend of mine said Sark is threading a needle.

My friends is not a huge Ewers fan and thinks Manning's ceiling is much higher.

But, the Manning family is closely watching how Sark is treating/managing/coaching Ewers through his injury, he says Sark is trying to show some loyalty to the guy who's brought them this far as indicative of how he'll treat Manning when his time comes.

FWIW.

I guess they have a quality backup QB as long as it's Arch Manning. As soon

as they go to Manning, Ewers is in the portal and their depth is gone. Save Manning until you absolutely need him. Not playing Manning in a loss to a quality defense like Georgia where Ewers lack of mobility was a problem is interesting.

Let's hope that the Manning era starts off on the wrong foot in 11 days.

I reckon Ewers will get the start.

And if he struggles, or our D gets to his gimpy butt in the pocket, or both, Manning will get his turn in the barrel.

If I was sark I would start arch against us. I feel this way cause arch can run. Ewers can throw but if our D-Line plays like they did against SMU, we will put lots of pressure on him any get lots of sacks. Arch would scramble like LaNorris or Jennings. The only reason I see Ewers starting is because He is a veteran and has experience.

Ewers should have left for the NFL

Ewers is only 3 years removed from High School. As a true junior

he can't go pro until after this year, but he needs another year.

The Mannings haven’t given Sark permission to play him full time yet.

Sark has vetted QB hierarchy with Ewers, Manning & families

Dec 10, 2024, 10:33 AM

Both players and families were comfortable with Ewers being the man this year.

When healthy, with his experience, Sark was confident pre-season that Ewers would give the team excellent passing and a slight edge over Manning.

Both Ewers and Manning will be NFL QB's. What was not considered was Ewers's status if he was playing hurt which appears to be the case.

Like Dabo's handling of DJ-U and Cade, and Dabo's play of injured Mafah, questions abound.

With the playoffs one and done, we will likely see some Manning early if Ewers is not getting the job done.

That was probably the plan for Cade when he was recruited.

Redshirt his first year and he'd be a redshirt Sophomore with two more years. Unfortunately...

Let's hope they are forced to pull Ewers and put in the relatively inexperienced Manning.
