who will be the first basketball transfer commit?

-Nick Davidson at Nevada?
-Carter Welling at Utah Valley State?
-RJ Godfrey (again) at Georgia?
someone else.
I don't mind RJ Godfrey but don't think you can promise him a starter position or build around. Need talent and he could be a good role player back at Clemson but did not show anything at Georgia he can be top player who other good transfers want to come to play with.
Davidson is and would attract other good transfers. Welling is pretty underrated also as a transfer.

Thank you for reply. Thats a long time for bids/offers to come in. May be a waiting game for some of the big time players.

A lot of big ones already have announced, and some commited. I just will be a little discouraged if don't get a good commit not including RJ Godfrey by end of the week. There is a lot of playing time here and hopefully the NIL is good enough to attract them...

Do we need more money to buy a better team?

Seems the teams with the most money will buy the best players and then the rest of the teams will pay marginal players and will suck.
Like most other things, just follow the money.

Asl Louisville what they do and then follow their advice. They paid guys way before NIL. They know what to do from their years of experience

I think RJ announces later. Timing here is important. Godfrey has probably been made aware his value is as a 4/5 position sixth man off the bench. Just as Brownell would have told him last spring. It’s what he is after the attempt to lock down a productive starter role at Georgia. He’s foul prone so starting minutes don’t materialize. The staff needs to get the targeted starters at 4 and 5 spots locked down first.

Godfrey was about like what he was at Clemson when at Ga. A few points and many fouls a game. We've seen what he can do. Probaby have more upside elsewhere with different player.

it actually can go up to 15 scholarships by the beginning of the season with the new revenue sharing era. I would think they would try to get it to 14 players.

I was wondering if the Rev sharing along with all the other changes had changed that, thanks!

Last year the first transfer commitment was Lahkin, third week in April. Some others didn't commit until mid May. I think our big two from last year were kind of a surprise. It may be the same this year too.
Davidson still has visits scheduled as does Schweiger and Durkin.
I think we are a couple weeks away from hearing any major announcements. There's still a bit of a second wave to come as players commit to teams which in turn cause more players to enter portal.

Better find some starters first to see how much money is left for role players.

We basically need a new starting five, which is going to be expensive. The five freshmen might have to be the role players.
