Loved those guys, but were they really walk-on’s? Both were initially on soccer scholarship. After agreeing to a football “try-out” they were immediately placed under football scholarship with the condition of being able to continue to play soccer. There was never a semester of school where they were not on an athletic scholarship I guess I look at walk ons as players going through the daily grind without the benefit of a scholarship.

Good find. I forgot about ol Rob Bodine. He was a 240lb nose guard and out quicked opposing offenses.

Hunter Renfrow is at the top of the list all by himself...
But anyone who remembers little Tommy Sharpe blocking Langston Moore's @$$ all up and down the field when we played the coots knows we've had other walk-ons who have been outstanding.

Hunter Renfrow brought energy to the team. It will be sad if walk ons are eliminated by new rules.
Good Luck with the Carolina Panthers Hunter 🐅

Yesterday in the O line thread I posted about Tommy Sharpe. He also is a walk on which likely inspired this thread.
Hunter is the obvious answer .
Here is a nice article about Tommy Sharpe and a short trip in how he got to Clemson. Interesting stuff.
Its also quite the story that he threw up every game. As a center that's problematic obviously and yes on occasion he threw up on the ball and the quarterback predictably fumbled.
