I didn’t. Nor is Cootlumbia something I ever cared to think about having a nick name. That being said, Armpit would be a more accurate nick name.

A paper mill right in the middle of assembly street would be a capital improvement.

Could be confused with Sodom, with all of the "spirited" encounters behind the dumpsters and port-a-potties during coot tailgates.

Irmo/Ballentine area for nearly 40 years and have spent a good bit of time in the city, I only have heard that moniker in the past few years.
The city uses the slogan "Famously Hot," which to me is rather elementary, but to each his own.
And by the way, we joke and deride the city on TNet, but there are actually over 30,000 + Clemson alumni in the Midlands plus their families and long time loyal Clemson fans. I'd guess that nearly 1/3 (or more) of the population are Clemson diehards with most enjoying life here. What amazes me is the stupidity of the media in the Columbia area, refusing to recognize such, especially now with our football success.

Its original moniker of “Meth Mecca” was euphemized to “Soda City” by area dentists for HIPPA purposes.
