Who is the very BEST offensive coordinator in the game?

Would he come to Clemson for $1.3 million dollars per year?
Have we not positioned ourselves to have our pick of dozens of very successful experienced offensive coordinators?
Why would we settle for less than the very best out there?
Just asking ...

I don't like the man and I'm not sure he will ever be HC material, but he's still a really good OC.

I'd say most of the ones in that position are like Chad,

looking for an HC position and not a lateral move. I'd rather have someone willing to stay OC for awhile instead of dealing with The Chad drama every offseason. Although I'd say it's a good thing when coaches are leaving because they are wanted, must mean something's going right. Who was the last coach to leave for a HC job? Rich Rod to WVU?

We need to give BV a raise

We don't need 1.3 to spend on an OC. We have amazing talent. We just need someone competent. Spend wisely elsewhere. Jeff Scott would do it for .6 I bet. Free up some money and get Kirk Ferentz to coach our OL or something.

Except we have one of the best O line coaches in the country

... People here never look past the surface or realize what's going on behind the scenes, our I line is essentially banged up scraps out side of 1 or 2 and there is absolutely no depth due to injuries and transfers. Our line this year was an improvement from what it once was but it should have been terrible under these circumstances. You act like we've recruited 5 stars at O line for years, we haven't. We have a couple 4 stars that didn't work out or got hurt then most of the rest are middle of the pack average and you see the monster kalon davis turned into, he was a 3 star lineman out of Chester that wasn't really well known and he's arguably the best offensive lineman we've had here in recent years. Were just now getting Robbie Caldwell some talent and depth at O line so be patient. I guarantee with most any other coach this line would have been the worst we've had in recent years but he put together a manageable and at times pretty impressive offensive line with essentially a bunch of random parts. You and the other people who act like Caldwell is the problem don't realize how fortunate we are, this could have and probably should have been a disaster.

THE BEST O. C. would be someone who would run a scheme like Morris ran, recruiting speed and talented receivers but most important he would have to have the same intensity and lifestyle values as Dabo and the other coaches.

David Cutliffe and Mark Mangino

Cutliffe has made a Duke team relevant that should be completely uncompetitive based on their talelent, which is akin to a SoCon school. I think he doesn't get enough national notice bc he looks like a character of the Andy Griffith show. What Mangino did at Kansas was a miracle and they were running up points n everyone and since he was fired they are back to where they were before he got there....pitiful. He's now oc at Iowa State but carried some baggage including mental illness, violent rage, tour ret induced profanity outbursts, and a unhealthy penchant for cupcakes.

Mark Helfrich. Too bad he's also the head coach of Oregon. He's fantastic and a great guy.
