When Austin Bryant returns, who sits down?

Clelin Ferrell?
Our best defensive linemen seem to be Bryant, Wilkins, Watkins and Lawrence. Gotta get those guys on the field even if you have to move somebody around.

Assuming he is 100%? I see him providing backup first

to ease him into playing speed. I would guess we see either Wilkins playing inside more with Bryant and Ferrel on the outside but also expect to see Wilkins/Bryant, Wilkins/Ferrel and Ferrel/Bryant.

Starting front four goes back to Ferrell, Watkins, Wilkins, and Bryant. And then it's just a big rotation

Sit Dexter to keep Ferrell on the field?

I'm having a hard time justifying that one. I realize they will all play during the course of the game, but the most common front four should be your best four.

Doesn't matter. The DTs get rotated heavily

and it works. Keeping those big boys fresh will continue to dominate any oline.

I don't think Dex has been starting during Bryant's absence has he? I may have missed it, but I thought Pagan was technically the starter. I don't know how many snaps they have all totaled, but it seems like they are all pretty close.
IMO, Clelin hasn't played that bad. Gotta remember he's a redshirt freshmen, so at the least him being on the field this year is gonna be HUGE for next year.
I agree it's hard to take Dex off the field, but I'm sure the big man will still get his snaps. And Wilkins will probably still be rotation at end while Bryant comes back and gets in football shape and used to playing a game

Ferrell has earned the right to play. If you let freshman come in and knock off guys that put in work it causes strife among those who have waited their turn and doesn't send a good message to the rest of the team.

the freshman is clearly better, he should play, period. Just as Watson showed he was clearly better, and played.

Ferrell is a freshmen, and there's not a freshmen trying to take his spot. Don't understand your point, but Ferrell has played pretty #### good this year if you watch football and don't juse listen for the big names that you know

Ferrell has been very solid. Quick twitch. Smart. I think the starters will be the same but Wilkins and Bryant will split snaps at DE and Wilkins will rotate in at DT also.
Side note, impressed with progress Register has made. Very impressed with Van Smith. Would love to more of Trayvon Mullen

I would leave it like it is and have Bryant first off the bench. The D is playing better than the 2014 D, leave it alone. Bryant will only make it better but the starters right now have earned their spot.

One question you need to answer first is...
Sep 23, 2016, 7:45 PM
|
|
Should Wilkins continue to play DE? Or should he rotates and plays both?
Frankly, I believe coach Venables will name Ferrell, Watkins, Wilkins and Bryant as starters. New guys shouldn't be too much upset if he's not named a starter. Big Dex will definitely get his playing time as a rotation as Wilkins will occasionally get rotated to DE.
This will work out in term of playing time and also confusing the offense.
But is it better for Wilkins? I don't know. Maybe Wilkins will want to stick to DT. We'll find out soon.

Ferrell was amazing last night . He may be our best DE anyway , just needs some minutes . We have an embarrassment of riches along the DL .
