I always appreciated the face that people can show up and march and state their concerns, views and opinions. As a young man, I remember going through protesters to visit our Capitol. I appreciate that we are given that democratic freedom to do so.
I have saw where people are comparing Jan 6th to other protests. They are all wrong when looting, destruction of property and bodily harm becomes involved. Both have the aspects of being right but taken too far. What does it benefit to burn and rob stores or other citizens property? That is not protesting that is a crime.
How can people be so hypocritical and say one side is wrong and not see they doing the same thing. Wrong is still wrong. I was taught it was never right to do wrong? Has that changed?
Not choosing either side of this, I have my opinions and you are allowed to have yours thankfully. Just answer the question, what crosses the line for you?

Nothing as long as you get a permit.
the 1st Amendment gives US citizens the right to “peacefully assemble.” A riot is not a peaceful assembly although most riots probably start out as such. And there is no permit for a public demonstration that allows destruction of property or harm to others. When that happens the participants are infringing on the Constitutional rights of others.

...the Biden DOJ has nothing to do with Trump being a felon. Trump is a felon based on NY State charges - which is entirely separate from the federal department of justice. The Biden DOJ slow played Trump's inappropriate handling of classified documents to basically kill any chances of him facing judgement.
And Biden pardoned his own family because he was being succeeded by a man who made it clear he wants to use the justice department to go after his political opponents. Anyone with half a brain would do the same thing.

wrong, what Presidents do on their way out of office is pardon people ALREADY CONVICTED of crimes, and rarely their own families. They don’t issue blanket absolution to people not yet even charged with a crime. Biden pardoned Hunter for the gun & drug charges for which he had been convicted as well as for other crimes for which he had not yet been as well as other family members AND notably, Anthony Fauci. That effectively deters investigation as well, there being no point of investigating someone who has already been exonerated by fiat. Why would he have done that if he didn’t know that they had indeed committed crimes?
Don’t you even wonder about that?

You apparently believe everything that you’re told. The charges were not grounded in existing statutory law, they were fabricated, the jury was given instructions that allowed illegal manipulation of a verdict, the judge was completely biased and committed judicial errors repeatedly, there was no victim and there were no damages. The judge was REQUIRED by NY state law to recuse himself due to conflict of interest. He VIOLATED the law and should be charged, if not disbarred. The sentence was unconditionally discharged. Certainly, this case will be overturned.

@myplasticsurgeon you nailed it. I would add only that the Federal Elections Commission (under Biden) reviewed the case and said no foul. The NY State AG proceeded to prosecute Trump under a Federal statute IN A STATE COURT. This case would have been summarily dismissed at the next level and will be if Trump ever chooses to to pursue it on that basis alone

I agree! I was telling my wife, do they call in and say I won’t be in today I am going to burn police cars, wave another country’s flag and loot some stores and see what else I can get into. It may last a week or more so see you then. Thanks

Not everyone works 9-5 Monday through Friday.
I work 5 am to 1 pm in general so I can have more overlap with my customer base. I’m out and about by early pm often. I’m not sure when the protests were but I’ve heard this comment in several places.

It becomes illegal when illegal actions are committed. Its illegal to damage or steal property regardless of whether you're engaged in a protest or not. Same goes for assaulting anyone else, blocking traffic, resisting arrest, etc. Saying you're "protesting" doesn't give you some magical immunity to being responsible for your actions.
