If it was a really good sandwich I would pay $12 for it. A fish sandwich from McDonald’s is between $5 or $6 dollars. IMO you could eat the cardboard box it comes with some cheese and you could not tell if you eat the fish sandwich or the box. They both have about the same taste in my opinion.
I have found Most restaurants who serve really good food is going to cost $12 to $15 for a Sandwich, drink and chips.
This question is was it worth the price or was it fast food quality ??

Yep, agree. That's not that unusual. Everything is expensive now. Was that a medium sandwich or the large. Either way, not that surprising.

Lunch is expensive only if you allow yourself. There are choices.

Yep. Everything is at least 10 bucks or more. 5 and 6 lunches are a relic now. Pack your bologna sandwich if you're a cheapee but beware bologna is almost 7 for a pack of good beef bologna for you guys that never go to the supermarket.

Back when I was in the workforce (retired now) would take lunch from home 95% of the time and would cost me an average of $1.50 to $3.00 per day depending on what I took.
Only purchased what I needed then.
But, guess it's a different world now and the status quo is to live beyond your means and live for the moment.

I did the same. If I ate lunch at all, it was something I brought from home. Couldn’t justify spending $75+ per week for lunch. That $300 per month was a lot more valuable to me when I put it toward a car payment. Same goes for Starbucks coffee.

Same for me as that adds up to a ton of money over a career. The occasional lunch out with the team but brown bag was the rule

A lot of the time my lunch was an apple or a banana at my desk. For a while I was buying the small cans of tuna and adding mayo and mustard I had in a small refrigerator in my office. Ate it with Ritz crackers. PB&J and a Little Debbie oatmeal creme pie was also a great option. That was what I ate the vast majority of days when I was in elementary and high school too. Sometimes a couple of boiled eggs were a good option. Started out doing it because we couldn’t afford much more, then just kept doing it because it made sense and tasted good. No reason to spend that kind of money on lunch.

Not a chance my friend, Ingles sirloin steak at $6 a pound or a Sam's chicken at $5 makes a bunch of sandwiches. Heck spiral cut hams at $2.98 a pound is cheap too! Benn buying boneless center cut chops, usually a pack of 6 for $10 , bake those rascals up and sliced thin on a Ciabata roll.

I watched a documentary. I did not realize that they put some of the best quality of meats in bologna. I grew up on bologna and mayonnaise sandwiches, potted meat and Vienna sausages.
I would stay with my grandparents most of the summer. They built a place on a small 30 acre lake built by my Uncle. It’s near Saluda, NC. At first there were only 10 to 15 houses. Some on the best times of my life. Some summers my entire family lived there during the summer. We would go up Friday nights a square dance at Saluda HS.
Every time I eat a bologna sandwich or see cans of potted meat or Vienna Sausage I think of those great summers.

That’s great. Vienna sausage brings back memories of fishing with my Dad in the creeks and rivers around Johns Island when I was a little kid.

It's definitely NOT healthy, but what I do sometimes is buy a pizza from lil Caesars and put it in the fridge in my office. boom, lunch for 2-3 days. Other than that I keep a loaf of bread and bologna in my office. Pair that up with 2 bags of whatever chips are on sale at the store, and I have lunch for 2 weeks.

A cheap lunch can be easily done. Go to the local grocery store salad bar and get a large container, fill it with healthy, leafy stuff plus a few banana peppers and you can have salad for five days for about $6.50. Get five bananas for $1.25 and you have dessert. $1.55/lunch and it is healthy. No biggie.

Glad I do not go to processed deli meat sandwich shops at those prices. When I was working the only place for lunch to me was the Thai Restaurant in Greenville. Other guys wanted Subway or Oodles of noodles Chinese( I called it oodles of Cat). Lunch at the Thai place was cheap and great, like $9.50 at the time. Now it is $12.50 but it is a plate full of of goodness I tell you!

I ate the same lunch every day when in 10th grade, 3 packs of Toast Chee and a 12oz bottle of Teem. 25 cents total cost.

I’d say at least 75% of the days I attended school (k-12), I had a PB&J sammich and a Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme pie for lunch. Maybe more like 90%. By choice. I still eat PB&J regularly but had to pretty much stop the Little Debbies because of the sugar.

One would expect negative inflation in a down market so the sandwich might cost less next week

Don't worry about the market. Put your money in 6 month Government Tbills. Currently paying +4%. Does not sound like a lot but at least you are not losing.

Pot Belly Deli is overrated and over priced, as are a lot of restaurants in the area these days.

In my opinion, all restaurants should be funded by the government so there is zero desire for a greedy business owner to attempt to make a profit.
A business owners desire to make more than he spends on his business is what’s ruining this country. Having one sandwich shop, like a Subway, that is state sponsored and answers to politicians would keep prices low and reduce complaints on websites

Nobody said they could not make a profit, what I am saying is that if it priced out of line I will not be participating in that profit. I will let others do it and if they end up broke so be it.

When I buy lunch it's either:
1. Chick-Fil-a (great employees) 2. Jimmy John's 3. Jersey Mike's
If I want a burger, it's Steak and Shake or Culver's, although Waffle House makes a decent burger too.

Got a small burger fries and drink at Five Guys and it was 15 plus they had the nerve to suggest a tip for counter service (no wait staff) on the electronic pad you pay on. I'm done with them. It's not even that good.
