IF we win out. Even if we don't we don't make it to the ACC championship game. A 10-2 Clemson team with a win over top 20 usuc at the end of the year will assure Clemson will be the 2nd ACC team to make the playoffs. The ACC could even sneak 3 teams in depending on how the five 8-2 SEC teams finish the year. Another little tidbit, this year so far the ACC has a winning record vs every conference except the SEC. That might also change with rivalry weekend coming up. I know alot of us are upset over the way this season has played out, but we are right where we need to be. Closing out the year with a chance to make the playoffs with a team (let's be honest) that isn't as star studded as to what we're used to

Were not a top 20 team this year let alone a Top 12. I have nothing but Respect for Coach Swinney but against good teams we have been out coached .against Pitt we played too conservative

No ACC team other than the ACC champ is going to be in the CFP. IF THE 13-0 ACC CHAMP DOESN'T MAKE IT, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK A 10-2 ACC TEAM THAT LUCKED OUT ON 2 OF THE WINS WOULD MAKE IT.
AND LOSING TO SOUTH CAROLINA IS A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY.

We need a mix of chaos plus chalk to happen. Meaning, we need teams like Texas and Oregon to win the championship games and provide a 3rd loss to some bubble teams. We need GT to beat UGA. We need ND to lose.
Miami needs to win out and win out big!

say this team has what it takes to make any headway in the CFP? You can't go brain-dead for 3/4 of the Pitt game and the entire Louisville game and think you're on that CFP level. Like we just go brain-dead. For huge stints.. i don't know what it is but we have no pulse. Not just players, but just dump play calls. Like the 4th and 1 pitch/run with Mafah against PItt.. like.. they were overloaded on the side they pitched to.. i mean.... does the kid not have permission to read the Defense and check out of a play if its not there? If you're hellbent on running that pitch then call a timeout or take a delay of game and punt b/c you're basically handing them the ball and the momentum when you just run it anyway.
and on 3rd and long.. do we have to run lateral pass plays and hope for YAC to get the first down or can we throw a seam route at the line or over the line? the playcalling is really questionable on offense.

It is not far fetched. Texas beating A&M is huge. We would need 2 of 3 to happen Tennessee loses to Vandy or Ole Miss loses to Florida or Notre Dame losing to USC to knock them out. Miami needs to blow out SMU. Beating Carolina would put us in the top 12.Below is potential spots. "Not accurately seeded. Just counting"

But I can't go all-in on the idea that a two-loss, non-conference champion Clemson team will make it past the committee's SEC-biased analytics.
This is because those models tend to suggest that the only teams that can beat SEC teams are other other SEC teams, and Ohio State.

We’re already 12th in ESPN’s Power Index. And in similar postion in most computer models. We were grossly over penalized in voter rankings for losing to UGA, who remain a consensus Top 5 team in most of those same models.

We certainly will be in consideration if we win out as I predicted 2 weeks ago, however, it's a long shot if we do not make it to Charlotte.
This is the likely CFP Rankings tomorrow (give or take and switch a few spots) with each team's remaining regular season games and this is being generous to both Clemson and SC's new spot: (I've bolded the teams ahead of us that play each other)

We need 4 more spots. Who do you have losing ahead of us that we could jump that makes you think we 100% get in? And keep in mind that if Army beats ND, Army could jump us with ND remaining in the top 12.

We are not making the playoffs unless we win the ACC. But making the ACC Championship is slim and none. We don't deserve to be in the playoffs as well. We haven't beaten a quality team and we have been exposed ever since the Louisville game. I hate that the playoff will be dominated by the SEC, but we don't deserve to be there even if we win out.

Well as inconsequential as it seems, the only thing that matters is beating The Citadel. If we look past them it could end up being one of those horrific "Who ever thought that could happen" moments that seem all to common in recent history.

CU winning out would place us in the "next few out". I guess I can't say "us", this particular week. Not much of a chance to land in the 12th spot even winning out. Coots have big issues but the much ailing Oline has my coot game expectations low at the moment. I can't think of a recent year in where my confidence was beat up, when thinking of the coot game. Maybe 2012'ish was the last time.
A Syracuse win over Miami would flip all of that playoff talk.
