We have lost a few top recruits because I feel

We have to prove we are a force again at the top. We have had a few seasons where we underperformed drastically. Ever since LSU tooo us to the woodshed in the second half of the natty, we have been sitting at idle. We’ve lost to teams that we should have beaten handily. Dabo has made some new coaching hires. We’ve been able to get the offensive players that Riley wants. Now it’s time for the defense to show they are back and not the porous defense we’ve seen since BV left. I feel our new guy can do that and then the top D recruits will see and Clemson will be back in the big picture.

We lost them because of NIL money

see how far we got behind on it all with CDS being stubborn for so long. Maybe his new stance will pay off and we will start seeing a change. He really needs to get that Nick Saban attitude when it comes to hiring and firing ppl. It’s his job to be the CEO and when the results aren’t there, he needs to pull the trigger sooner than later.

I think the defense will take a huge step forward this season, esp with stopping the run.

This one wasn’t about recruiting, prestige, future success, or championship driven. This one was solely-

“Team B came in and made me such a ridiculous offer that even team A, whom I love & very much wanted to be at, even understands why I got to take it.”

For the players sake, let’s hope he still has a great career bc a lot of times when players, including the NFL, just chase the dollar in FA it usually doesn’t work out for the best.

Yep. All the friends and family show up with a hardship case. It's hard for a 17 yo to say no... thinking it'll last forever and he'll be the next mahomes so to speak.

He's been talking about A&M for 3 years

We gotta stop insisting we're poor; we're not.

We could recognize he's been high on A&M for years, & he was high on us. We shunned him all week long, which isn't uncommon, but I just don't understand the hate in spite of the information, especially with the chance he'll transfer as many insist he's "just in it for the money," then I could say why not transfer to Clemson as easily as understand why he wouldn't after the way we've drug his name, image & likeness through the mud so pervasively, you know?

We were in the running as one of two for a reason, & part of that reason for BOTH is money, make no mistake.

Thankfully we can & will compete financially outright, believe it or not, including with this year's squad & legitimately high hopes for an unforgettable season. The future's bright at Clemson, make no mistake.

I think you are confused.

Recruits only choose us because of our family atmosphere, Dabo, academics, and because “there’s something in these hills.”

Meanwhile, they only choose other schools because of money or because they are actually bad kids who have their priorities out of whack.

Signed,

Clemson Homers

Feelings, nothing more than feelings…

We lost out to a team who has not done squat outside of a couple of years with Manziel. Even then, they did not compete for a title. Perhaps he wanted to get away from home or he really connected with their coaches. Most likely money played a big part

Nobody is losing players to TAM because of anything other than cash. You don't one minute love the Clemson culture and then immediately change your mind to go somewhere that the culture is a complete 180 and everything is based on $$$. There's a reason they have a big chunk of players transfer out every season and it isn't because its so wonderful.

Not immediate, to be fair

He's been working with A&M for 3 years & has always been positive about them, just like with Clemson.

It wasn't last-minute is all, & the latest story says he told A&M days before his official announcement. We have money, too, & it's working inescapably well for us, so it's likely not as simple as "money over everything else" no matter how much it seems like we hate him now.

If it went down as you describe then it does kind of make sense that if he was very comfortable with both programs, the difference may have come down to money. If someone thinks that all else is equal who wouldn’t go for the highest offer?

I do agree with you, almost all the way. I do, however, believe that Texas A&M is a very good school with a great tradition of patriotism. I think their values seem to be slipping when it comes to sports, especially football.

Exactly, I don't blame these kids at all.

Also, let's not act like A&M is some trash school that doesn't compare to Clemson.

Some of these schools have no limit on NIL money. If a kid follows the money and that is his sole determining factor, let him go.

We are in that list

We, too, have the ability to hit the "salary cap" every year as well as tremendous NIL-only opportunities many programs simply don't.

It may be an inescapably relevant part of why his choice was only ever really between us & A&M who was also working with him for the last 3 years.

That’s it. End of discussion. You mean to tell me we had four 5* in 2011 because our history of dominance?

No, we got those guys because Dabo had a great formula on how to recruit. Once NIL/Transfer portal came into the picture, Dabo’s formula no longer worked. The top 50 recruits will typically want to get paid and unless we are willing to pay top dollar we don’t land those types anymore.
