We are staying for the weekend and was wondering if there was anything special that we need to see and do?

Eat at the Smoking Pig, visit the Esso club (bar/restaurant), Botanical Gardens are relaxing. Just a few suggestions.

Old Salem is kind of cool if you're into history. Worth going to walk around for a couple of hours

You can get Krispy Kreme doughnuts and wine in the stadium.

Isn't that the breakfast of champions?

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

Pilot Mountain is nice if you like the outdoors, good views and a simple hike. Great place to picnic.

some nice restaurants and bars. It’s WFU’s mixed-use development downtown with living and education, and social life all mixed together. It was formerly all of RJ Reynolds factories and warehouses. Check out the “Coal Pit” at Bailey Power Plant (look for 2 smokestacks) grab a beer at Incendiary Brewing and a neopolitan style pizza at Cugino all in the same outdoor space.

4th Street is the main drag with more restaurants and bars. Trade St too.

Old Salem is wonderful this time of year.

Also, the Carolina Classic Fair is in town and is NCs second largest fair. It’s directly next to Wake’s football stadium and will be sharing parking with the football game. Come tailgate early for a good parking spot and then visit the fair.

Winston is a great town with plenty to do and the Wake campus is beautiful if you have never seen it. A visit to the Reynolda House and gardens is a nice trip if it is open.
