Their players are probably paid less than ours at the moment. That is why they have fallen off so much. But they’re making changes to that, hence why Davis isn’t getting fired.

Duke opened up their wallets very wide whereas UNC thought that the mystique of the program and smaller dollars would be sufficient. They quickly found out - no, not sufficient.

I’m sure you guys can’t provide any data to back that claim up.

It usually just comes down to if you have a good coach or not.

UNC does not. They’ll eventually get one and be UNC again.

He’s right. I’m not sure what the numbers are but it’s been said dook pays 8 times UNC in NIL. Whether that’s accurate who knows. Here’s a couple things that are true. UNC targeted about 8 centers in the portal last year and whiffed on every single one. Hmm?? Money!! Also, Hubert Davis did say a couple years ago that UNC will not become a transactional program. Well, that’s fine but in today’s system that equals not competing in recruiting. It sickens me but that’s where college ball is now.

Hard facts are hard to come by these days with NIL, etc. I’m basing my opinion on a couple of things.

1) It was mentioned several times during our game against them. Commentators discussing how they were hiring a GM type position and how they hadnt embraced the new landscape as aggressively as many others.

2) You can find a myriad of articles about “what happened to UNC” that will cite the same. But those aren’t hard facts. Just opinion pieces with a number thrown in here and there

3) Last night someone posted a 22-23 yr of expenditures (though once again estimates). And that is two years ago.
