If he makes it to campus. Draft eligible and will probably lose him to the draft.

I don't see him on any draft boards, if he does it might be low enough to warrant trying to come back another year and improve his position.

While I don't disagree, Dalley is the only guy who only has one year of eligibility left. He would be the only so far with a guaranteed starting spot to begin the year, so everyone else still has to earn their spot.
As others have said, it looks like Savoie from Loyola-Marymount is committing, which rounds out the outfield (Crighton, Wentworth, McCladdie, Dalley, and Savoie). The only hitter we're waiting on (as far as I know) is Wideman, so if he commits, we have 6 guys all competing for 3 spots.
The infield also would have some competition, with Clavon, Lichtenberger, Purify, Castellani, and McCladdie fighting for the 3 non-1B spots (although Purify has a spot locked up wherever the others don't play). 1st also has a battle, with Crighton, McCladdie, Gaffney, Savoie, and Priest(?) who all can play. DH is going to end up being the best hitter left, so even Priest has to fight for that place in the lineup.
I think Bakich is sending a clear message to the guys that no lineup position is a given at this point, and anyone might be riding the bench this year, so we're going to see them all compete to play. Even the guys who have eligibility, if they don't start a ton this year, they might stick around through graduation and develop into good hitters down the line. This is the best spot the program has been since Bakich has been manager. This is by far his deepest team yet, I'm excited for Feb. 2026.

I don’t know if your reasoning about Bakich’s “best spot” since he got here was the same as my reasoning that I’m about to give
As to why I personally think he’s in the best spot
I think he’s in the best spot because there is NOT any certainty about who the best position player is
We know Knaak is still our ace
But there’s no Cam, no Caden Grice, no alpha dog that we know of
Yet
I think that has totally 100% been a legitimate thing with our teams since Monte.
There 100% will be a player that sets himself apart throughout the duration of the season
But I think it’s a good reboot for this program
Curiosity about who that top dog is can drive the players more
You know they all want to be the best on their own team.
Especially at a serious enough level like college.
Aside from all that, I think Wentworth should play centerfield.
Wentworth showed us that he could be that next guy
Castellani should be at 1st. He’s an upper echelon talent.
I guess Purify will hold his spot.
But about Purify. If he shows next season similar things that happened this season, Bakich will do what you mentioned and pull him.
Bakich is going to get more and more impatient with players, coaches, and everybody. So long as the Omaha drought continues.

Yeah, that was my thought was as well. I don't know how any of the incoming guys will perform, but if nothing else, bringing them in will light a fire underneath the players already on the roster. In the last two seasons, only 10 hitters have had at least 2 plate appearances per game. With one injury, only 9 guys are playing every day. This year is different than previous because nobody knows what role anyone will be in. I've already seen a few posts here asking where everyone will play, which is shockingly a good thing.
The lineup is deep, and now guys are going to actually have to perform to keep a spot. They got complacent last year, and sometimes it seemed like they just didn't care to lose or fight back in games. I think like you said Bakich is fed up, and it seems like he's bringing in as much high-level talent as possible to get the best-of-the-best lineup we can. The only guarantees for next year I can see is Jarrell, Purify, and Dalley, with the other 6 positions up for grabs. Jarrell's spot might be up for grabs also, but I think Bakich likes his framing and work ethic, so unless Savoie seriously wants to catch, I don't see who else could de-throne Jarrell.
The only four guarantees returning on the pitching side is Knaak, Titsworth, McGovern, and Allen. This too is dependent on if Titsworth stays as a starter or moves back to the bullpen. He could be an emergency starter, but Bell and Moehler seem likely to have the Sat. and Sun. starts. Simmerson and Veasey would also have bullpen spots, so if Titsworth, McGovern, Allen, Simmerson, and Veasey are the main guys, we are in good shape. Still need probably 6 or 7 guys total in the bullpen who could theoretically close out games, but Bakich seems to have some more pitching transfers on the horizon (Canaan Clayton from New Orleans has been hinted).
All in all, this is the first year with REAL competition going into the fall, and I'm excited to see how it all plays out.

The depth is definitely a good problem to have. How many times were we asking “why is this guy still playing?” Or “why is this guy pitching?” I’m all for us having this “problem.” Like you said, it’ll force guys to perform and if you know you have 6-7 guys who can play in the outfield and 4-5 infielders, hopefully the cream rises to the top.

I think most transfer players we’ve gotten had posted stats like that prior to Clemson
He’ll probably just be another Gaffney.

How about you don’t watch then? If you want to write off every player we sign and say “oh he’s just another Gaffney” just don’t watch… Because we also haven’t seen the last of Luke Gaffney. He is going to be a very solid player for us before all is said and done, I’ll bet anything on that,

Hinderleider, Mathes, and Blackwell all transferred in from mid majors. All did very well in one last year of playing for Clemson. The portal is a gamble, nothing is guaranteed. Gaffney and Priest were from Big 10. They have a chance to develop. But coach is finding guys who have proven to be productive. Wideman would be huge. You going to discount that he played for Western Kentucky? Still got three weeks. So wait to reserve judgement until then.
