I haven't seen a single ranking which had him outside of the Top 5 to be honest...where did you see that?

haha yea I mean, isn't his show on in Atlanta? The guys on the call-in probably just list the SEC teams' quarterbacks in order.

Murray is probably the only SEC QB worth mentioning

Other than that, the SEC doesn't have a lot of good QBs.

Ehhhhhh I think you gotta give McCarron a nod too...despite his hideous, hideous, hideous tattoo, he's a good QB.

looking at his stats...

the only things that stick out to me are the completion percetange and the 30 to 3 TD to INT ratio. But considering he's never thrown for more than 3000 yards in a season, that might mean that he's not asked to do very much because of Alabama's run first offense.
He also wasn't all that impressive in any of their close games, where he might've had to pass the ball a little more.
McCarron may be pretty good, but his stats tell me he probably wouldn't be a huge deal if he played for a team that wasn't stacked on defense and at RB and OL.

He's not an outstanding QB--I wouldn't put him in the same category as Boyd, Murray or Bridgewater--but he's definitely a Top 10 overall QB in the country. You're right that he isn't asked to do much, but he only threw interceptions in two games last year: two in the loss against A&M and one against a very tough Georgia defense.
I think you have to mention him not because he's a fantastic QB, but because Saban is going to have him as prepared as any QB will be in the country every Saturday of the year. You need to beat him, he won't beat himself. Unfortunately time to time Tajh has beat himself.
Gotta give Saban props though: in the last four years, his quarterbacks have averaged 66.4% completion, 2,765.5 yards, 20.75 TDs and 4.25 INTs per year. That's just so consistent and efficient.

agreed, but one thing...

Georgia's "very tough" defense only gave up 30 fewer yards per game and 5 less TDs. They were middle of the road last year, at best, despite the talent they had.

haha oh yea, I forgot about him! ...somehow
I'm interested to see how the sophomore campaign goes now that he's got the hype, has lost some critical pieces up front, and teams know to prepare for him...
I expect him to still do well, but I think he's going to have a drop off in production.
