that is flaw #1

Dec 5, 2023, 1:23 PM

flaw #2 is that they then use specific players to break it down by player at each school.
Let's assume their "evaluation" is accurate.
Maybe Bryce Young got 3 mil, it doesn't mean that the 2nd string punter got $45K

so there isn't empirical evidence to yield those figures? Just someone writing things on the internet?
Respectfully, I wouldn't put much weight into any of that.

mostly based on how many followers the players have on social media. NIL deals generally aren't made public.

To me the dead nuts numbers are not as important as showing the woe is me NIL guys that were in relatively rare company.
Clemson was near the forefront of NIL when we built the Reign building, and it’s been growing since.
Overall the message is we can strike NIL from the woe is us mantra.

and this is why people are so susceptible to believing conspiracies.
the emphasis in the sentence is "COULD"
No evidence at all to support they are actually bringing in that much money unless you believe what ever math problem they used base on Instagram followers.

to believing "conspiracies" (aka anything outside of mainstream narrative) because mainstream media knows how lazy and malleable everyone is. They have mastered to art of framing.

this person is believing something that is not supported by a single fact.
this person is also spreading it to other people who are believing it with out question.
that is how conspiracies are spread.

We know (or at least it's been reported) that Shadeur Sanders makes almost 4 million by himself in NIL money. Even if he was the ONLY player making NIL money at Colorado, that owuld put the team average (assuming 85 players) at $47,000, and Colorado isn't on the list.

Just read through to the other story (the original report) and it was only top 25 teams. And then when you read down below they use the words "players" and "starters" interchangeably, which certainly throws off being able to nail down what they are averaging.
Horrible article

i questioned the OP because i swear i saw this same post last year and had the same argument about the validity of the data.
hard to blame a tnet posters though.. it isn't their job to have some sort of ethics in reporting.

"We analyzed the top 15 ranking college football stars (according to ESPN). This analysis shows how much each player could be earning for the current season. Below is a breakdown of the top 5 earning players."
Sounds extremely weak and inexact.
