Alright that was hard because I was barely alive then but those are the songs I picked for my 5 for those years. If a decent response I will do the next 5 years.

I feel like I missed a lot of music like Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin who weren’t in top 100 songs during these years. I strictly went off Billboard Top 100

Yeah my top 5 would’ve been all Led Zeppelin in 1971. Decent list but the music I listened to wasn’t on the Billboard charts lol

I think "uour so vain" is Carly Simon, not Helen Reddy. Like you, I was 8 in 1970, no way I could go through those years, but great list!

Yeah it was based on Billboard top 100. I missed Dream On and other great rock songs that failed to make list.

I was 8 in 1970, and some of the best rock roll songs ever came from those 5 years.

My favorite decade for music is the 70’s although I was young, born in 1964. It’s the music I remember from my childhood. My mom was a music lover and we had so many 45 records that we listened to all the time. I don’t recall the years but here were some of my faves:

December 1963 (oh what a night)
I’ll be around- the spinners
Layla-Derek and the dominoes
Long cool woman- the Hollies
Help me - Joni Mitchell
Mercy me- Marvin Gaye
Jackie Blue -Ozark Mtn daredevils
Right back where we started from- Maxine Nightingale
How long -Ace
Do it again -steely Dan
Long train running - Doobie Brothers
Rikki don’t lose that number - steely Dan
Superstition- Stevie Wonder
Roundabout -Yes
Love is Alive -Gary Wright

Good lord I could go on and on. There was so much great music then!

I was born in ‘68 and there was some great music from the 60s to the 90’s. My dad’s love of music caused me to sample many types of music and my musical tastes are all over the place. Music is my happy place

Me too! I absolutely love it. My favorite thing ever other than Clemson football 🏈. I have never understood people that don’t like music much. I have a friend like that. To me, it reminds me of memories of where I was and different times in my life. I remember lots of songs from the 80’s when I was a student at Clemson. They will always remind me of being there. I remembered a few more that I left off:

I shot the sheriff -Eric Clapton
Hello it’s me - Todd Rundgren. I’m one of those people that pays way more attention to the music/melody than the words but this is one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard.

Miracles and with your love - Jefferson starship
Summer breeze - seals and crofts. Love their music
Also, most anything by
America
Lowdown- Boz Scaggs

Ok that was more than a few but I got on a roll

Technically released in 1969, so not in your time period, but the Led Zeppelin II album is one of the greatest of all time.

The 1970s was rock and roll. Love it.
