To whom are we losing

When I look at the recruiting news, specifically the ones where we are in the final group, I see us head-to-head with the top programs in the country. Many of us have been around long enough to remember recruiting against WFU, GT and UsuC. Back then, most recruiting was regional and we weren't a player on the national stage. My point with all of this is, we don't get all the 5 stars, but we're in the game for a lot of them and that's impressive.

Seems like we're not closing the deal on most 5 stars though...kind of deflating.

Seems like the majority of the 5 Stars are money chasers.
But then again, a Pandora's Box has been opened.

On those type players, nowadays it usually comes down to who bids highest.

never was a big Boulware fan-saw him out of position and run by too many times! CJ was a great player -obviously cannot recruit! predict CJ will be “promoted “ to a community relations position-we’ll see about Boulware! Many would be delighted to hear that Jeff Scott was returning to the staff!

Yeah it is deflating. Last decade we were closing the deal on a lot of them. Then we went through some rocky seasons and bad hires... let alone bad press.
But Matt Luke is closing the deal. Grisham closed a couple deals too. Sadly and surprisingly, Rumph, Conn, Boulware/Allen and Eason, along with CJ aren't. I'm optimistic about this year's D and hopefully that helps them close. We need to win a natty.
Clemvol, I enjoy your posts, but to say they're all money chasers is a slam to Dabo. He himself says if a kid is, then we don't offer. So I disagree with your assumptions. Now, I agree, it may in some cases sway the pledge to choose.
Imo, I think we need to offer more so as to increase our odds, and 2, change our policy to match the money and level the playing field... if we can. We may not be able too because of the lack of funds. But many on here say we have the money.

We all seem to follow the recruiting scene more than most. It's unfortunate that we all see the same thing, and it's extremely aggravating to loose out on most these 5 stars and now the state of NC is not ours like it was last few decades. I feel the same way, about it ... There needs to be a change somewhat with NIL or the amount of money offered. Why does Clemson always has to be late to the party , when it comes to trying to be equal in all things in recruiting.... Like I said, it's extremely aggravating to not win at least a few of these recruiting battles over the top 35 players (5 star) in the nation, but the last few years, especially last year it was like 7 decommits from top 300 players in nation, and now this year it's been our top 6 elite 5 star players, we've lost out to ND, Texas , A&M, UGA twice.... Perry-Wright, Samari Matthews , O'Brien, T.Lamar , now Atkinson.....

our commit list as they once did prior to NIL...ND & others have raided the state of NC which was loaded with blue chips this year, for a short time we owned that state...SC has become a problem instate.. hopefully the stability of the roster will offset these changes in the recruiting landscape-

In reading about these high level recruits, it seems that they visit CU in May but then they go to the other schools in June. I wonder if that has impact as well. Recency bias is a real thing. It's like interviewing for a a job in a competitive bid, you always want to be last with the client.
I'm no expert but it seems like going first in May puts us at a disadvantage. The kids will remember their most recent experience more when they are deciding.
