To support BV, our D WAS the difference in the game.

We had sacks and don't forget that INT in the End Zone. State scores there and maybe it's a different story this morning. State's D had no sacks. They had INTs, but none as critical as ours in the End Zone. We also caused fumbles that led to points. Our D played a big part in the win, ugly as it was.
Also, our D played lights out for the first few series. Had the offense gotten 7s instead of 3s, it's also probably a different story today.
That said, just like in the FSU game, the kick off coverage and kick offs hurt us bad. We MUST consistently get it in the End Zone for no return. That is just critical. We also must correct whatever in the heck is happening on our right side of kick off coverage. That is also the side where FSU burned us.
So, correct the blown coverages (if that is even possible at this point) and the kick off game, and we should be OK.

Wonder why Benton can't get it in the endzone consistently?

I thought he did pretty well last year, and with the ball being placed where it is now, i just don't get it.

I think they are trying to do what FSU does and kick it really high and to the one. Then try to pin them down inside the 10 or 15. Almost like a punt instead of them getting it at the 25. We've done pretty good so far this year except the FSU and State games. I think if a guy is a homerun threat than just put it out of the back of the endzone and play d.

you may be right and we are able to do just that at times.

But after about, oh say, the 5th time #4 burned us yesterday, you'd think we would kick it thru the EZ every time if we could.
May be a combination of strategy and kicker's ability.
Again, I need to move on. A win is a win.
Bring on the the coots.

Heck, what was amazing was the performance by Palmer! Take him out of the game and it would have been an old fashion whoop a$$. Front 7 played very well, DB's appeared lost at times and Kick off teams need 2 a day practice this week. The O-line looked very good in pass protection and the ground game was nice. Hated that holding penalty that brought Ellington's run back in the fourth quarter.

Agreed. #4 was amazing. Their big TE had a game too.

Glennon only completed 54% of his passes.

Too bad he threw the ball 53 times. They were definitely gun slinging, and it's pretty hard to stop a team from scoring when they go for it on fourth down as much as they did.

blitzing b/c we just had nothing left in the tank. If we don't get to the QB it's a TD.

yes indeed Rashard Hall and X brewer dropped 3 picks in that game.. those balls caught a lot of those drives wouldn't have happened.. Granted Tajh had his two picks as well one was on a under throw and the other one he didnt see the safety baiting him.. so hopefully he learns from this and goes out there and demolishes the gamecocks next week..
