Looks like Clemson was offering him a big offer if cleared by the NCAA. Don't know if still in play since then got Davidson, Welling and Godfrey. Read link:

Probably not bc they were selling all of those college athletes Name, Image, and Likeness without sharing a dime of the money with those college athletes. IMO what they were doing was the same as stealing their money before they were taken to court. Can any of you imagine how much money the NCAA was raking in before the kids took the NCAA to court and made the NCAA give them a reasonable share of the money that they were making off all those college athletes N I L!!!

Speaking of this, has anyone seen the outcome of the Valvano era players that sued the NCAA for running video of their miraculous 1983 championship finish over Houston without compensating the players. I recall seeing the suit filed but have not heard an update since.

Just wondering what happened.

All of those athletes signed contracts to get an education, along with free room and board, including some other expenses. In return the rules were set, and all parties agreed to them. Nobody was taken advantage of (except some of those nasty SEC schools who did not honor the contracts if the players did not perform), and they got a free education and training for life, if not the pros.

The schools never received "NIL" money for any athlete. And all those athletes grew up wanting and dreaming of getting to college and earn playing time UNDER THE RULES AS THEY WERE SET!

Except for a few bad schools and players, what money that went under the table were from donors cutting the system. The schools NEVER made the money that is now being spent through NIL.

The actual governing body (NCAA) did not market the players or make money off the players...they made it from advertising their games and what fees they collected. Even ads that had a player shown or mentioned did not generate advertising dollars (no company name presented).

Man, if they landed him, we’d have one the best frontcourts in the country! The depth would be great.
